power drain somewhere

first of all, i totally bypassed the stock amp. i cut off all the wires going to the stock amp and put them back together according to a chart i found on here. so i took the stock amp completely out my car. next, i installed a 10" sub with a cheap amp just to get a little bass. so when i turn my headunit up, it sounds pretty good. but if i turn it up to a higher volume, like around 20, the stereo just shuts off but turns back on. im guessing theres a power drain to the cd player. could there be a short somewhere in the wires? any guesses?????

I think the cheap amp is probably your problem. There could be a problem with your wiring causing it to either short out or overheat.

if you have too small of a fuse it will cut out. or a bad ground somewhere. sounds more like you used the wiring harness for the ground. you need to ground the radio directly to the frame. btw you didnt have to bypass the stock amp.

Either a short, or a bad ground. Could be a faulty fuse too, but try it without the crappy amp, get a better one
