Please Help Gas Problem
i dont know whats going on with my 97 3.0 cl but its drinking gas like crazy. My check engine light isnt on so i dont know what it could be. Ive changed the plugs, thought that maybe the gap was bad but that didnt fix the problem. Any of you think it could bt the tranny???. My car revs at 3000 rpms doing 80mph... is that too high or is that normal?.... if anyone could help me out id appreciate it. Thanks......

So what is your mileage? Have you been checking it all along and now it fell of the cliff? The only pont of reference I have is my own '98 2.3CL w/5 speed - this summer I was getting 34-35 mpg. Now, with colder weather it is down about 2 mpg to 32-33. Mileage is mostly a functin of how you drive - but the tuning or mechanical problems could be a factor. Take your car to a mechanic you trust and let him do his thing with the computer diagnosis.

I'm getting about 350 miles per tank. Keep in mind that I'm running 93 octane with Zex plugs!
Running with 87 octane and OEM plugs, I was getting about 440 miles per tank

do you like to floor it everywhere you go (in vtec) like me?
if you do, be prepared to get about 270 per tank.... and i have a 4 cyl.
hook it up to an obdII program... you could be running really rich...
-acura sensei - your fiancee is doing nothing wrong by putting 87 in the car. that is what i use and get the best performance out of it. unless you are spraying, boosting, or have some crazy n/a setup on our engines; they do just fine with 87. anything over that is a waste of money.

Somethings seriously wrong. You could be running rich, could have a leak (check your fuel rail), injectors could be bad, etc.
I take it to someone and get it checked out.
