Hi Guys,
My paint on the hood is craking up as I did some misadventure trying to fix some scuffs/stone chips on the nose of the hood
. Long story short landed up repainting
the hood and now the paint on the entire hood is completely cracking up
. It still shines but is cracking.
Took it to 'MAACO" for a quote the one near my place quoted me $980/- for the "SUPREME-Single stage polyurethene with sealer" this also includes complete scraping of the hood and both the fenders, fixing a small dent on the door and a complete coat to the car.
Is this a good deal??? or should I go to a reliable mom and pop body shop to get another quote...wil that be cheaper???
After the "Supreme" there is one more choice at Maaco which is the "Signature-Base Coat, Clear Coat, Urethene" which is slightely more expensive....should I go with this...
Please advise...also if you are in the NJ, NY area you can guide me to a good paint shop...
Help...
JFK

Honestly, I've seen MAACO paint jobs that "aren't that bad." But I personally don't think that's acceptable, and I doubt you or anyone else on AZ would want a "not that bad" paint job. MAACO is great if you have an older beater car or a car that doesn't matter what it looks like.
As everyone else said, take it to a professional body shop. Yes it will cost a lot more then MAACO, but it will look that much better.

paint is something i take seriously.
if u are paying a substantial amount of money,
DO IT FUCKING RIGHT.
sorry,
but there is a reason your getting the car painted: to hold its value.
You want something that will last, look good and be able to be maintained.

If your just gonna get it painted to get more money out of it when you sell it, then go maaco... if you are gonna keep it, shell out some coin and have it done right.
