P1259 Vtec code

Ok- so those who have followed my sad story of late know that I just got my car back, with a "new" crate motor that wouldn't go past 3900 RPMs as soon as I got it back. Took it back to the shop, and they looked at it, "but couldnt get around to it that day." After they just delivered it to me, took my money and called it ready Anyway, I took the liberty of keeping it for the weekend and looking into it myself. The CEL shows a P1259, which is a Vtec system malfunction.
I read this thread- http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1485884
which is exactly the problem I am having.
So, my long winded question is- what do you use that is safe to clean the Vtec sensor and how do I get it off?( the vtec pressure sensor)

Apparently this is not the site for technical advice (even something simple like this).
I went to Honda Tech. com and they anwered my question, including a diagram of the Vtec oil pressure switch's location in 15 minutes or so-

Well of course it was simple now that you know the answer. You should hang out at Honda Tech.com more often. Boo on this thread.

That sucks you weren't able to get help on here, if you search there have been multiple sites posted with vtec error codes, at least people on HT were able to help

Thank you for the concern, and yes I registered over there. Seems to be lots of serious technical help and material available. Sorry, not trying to bitch, just wanted to try to fix it myself over the weekend.
Good news is I took it back and the mechanic and I are on the same page, it's either the oil pressure switch(most likely) or the screen going to hte Vtec solenoid is clogged-

also could throwing a 1259 cause tranny issues?she's a slug and sometimes redline's at 4-5 grand. sometimes she has some hard shifts and i have to let off the gas to upshift.i think one of my motor mounts is shot which would explain the hard/clunky shifts but do you think the other symptoms could be cured with a simple switch or screen??

i'm gonna be pissed if a simple problem this was my headache for the past months.(also would owe my tranny guy a for screaming and yelling that my car is still f*cked after 2g's in tranny work)

well. it wasnt just the filter screen apparently- but that did help tremendously. Still getting a CEL(havent checked which one, probably hte same on) and it is happening sporadically( vtec not engaging) so thats progress, I guess
the dude at the shop was pissed because he had to order the whole assembly of like 8 parts, and I just need one part
Now they are gonna call me when the parts are in and drop them in (free, of course)- I'll keep you posted for anyone who may have a similiar issue with V-tec

Nah-the whole assembly is only like 100 dollars (dealer cost) with labor, and having them do it, maybe a few hundred- do it yourself- 130-150 depending on markup of the shop fpr parts. OR-
if you are real lucky, it's just the filter/screen to the oil switch. that one's real cheap
