I had my headers put on an then i started getting a rattling noise from my cat. i took it back to the shop and the guy said there was something lose in it. he said he could clean it out but i wouldn't have a cat. And now my CEL is on and its starting to annoy me.

You can just bypass it to the other sensor

How do you do that?

And qsgreencl, which O2 sensor are you talking about? The one at the cat or the one at the header? I have my cat out and I bought an O2 simulator but it doesn't do shit. I also found this dudes website where he built one himself. I haven't tried that yet but if anyone else has a way of getting rid of the CEL then please help. Otherwise I will try this guys method. Here is the link.

I used the enclosed link to fix my toyota celica P0420. It works like a charm. Before the fix, the rear O2 sensor mirrored the forward O2 sensor voltage pattern which causes the ECU to set P0420. Afterwards, a nice smooth voltage trace and no P0420 for over a year now. I actually bought a replacement universal converter, but have not got around to having it installed since it requires welding to existing exhaust pipe.

Mechanical Fix for P0420

I'll try one of these. Thanks. I bought another one off some other non-ebay website and it cost me like $80 CAN. And it doesn't work at all. And of course, they discontinued their O2 simulators and all service on them right after I ordered it.

well i installed my test pipe and header today. Used the part i bought and no cel. Had to go to the local auto store (advance) and looked at the ones mentioned above. I dont think they will work b/c it is not deep enough for the o2 sensor to sit in. But the one i got has a 2nd part to it and makes it deep enough. Anyways its all done and sounds nice. No cel and i am happy. Now on to the next step!!

I put it in myself when i replaced my o2 sensors. When they went bad, I soldered my O2 sim into the wiring. Its 3 wires. 2 splice into the signal wire and the other wires into the ground.
