Finally got the trans in my 99 CL30 a few weeks back, and just today had a little time to button up some of the other bits on it. The trans I bought came from a wrecked CL, and it had a Jasper tag on it. Jasper says it was sold in December of 2012, so it can't have many miles on it, especially since the guy at the yard told me they'd been sitting on it a while. It still on the stands, but I fired it up today and it won't shift past 2nd gear. I can shift manually, or let it go auto, doesn't matter, just won't hit 3rd. Should I be looking at the TPS? Something else? I've been searching AZ for a bit now and am not finding anything like this. Somebody said something about a vacuum line. I don't remember seeing one. Any thoughts, areas to look at?

 

I should also say, the trans I pulled out had a nasty grind when shifted into reverse, and it wouldn't take it, but it also would only hit 1st and 2nd forward gears. I also do not have all of the intake plumbing hooked up right now. Open throttle body.

 

Update. Guess I should've clarified. The car was up on jackstands. I got tired of chasing my tail looking for a solution that didn't include pulling the trans again and finally put the wheels back on and took it for a short ride. Shifts just fine. As preventive measures I added a universal AC Delco transmission filter, and an additional cooler. Gotta go through the brakes now, check the suspension, get a windshield chip fixed, and then either plate it or sell it. Be almost a bad thing to pawn it after this much work, especially since it's only got 130k on it.
