NOISE up to 40mph!!!!
Everytime i drive my car up to 40mph it makes this weird noise.
like a whining noise. (its pretty loud also) not screeching but like a moderate humming.
my mechanic says its the trans.
or maybe the belts?
anyone had this problem before?

The only thing I notice in my car at 40MPH is a rattling, and I believe that's just because of such a low speed in a high gear. I have an automatic, and driving around the city in D4 may save some gas mileage, but the annoying rattling at 40MPH is not really worth it.

whining could be a few things. But if it's not screeching it's probably not the belts. If it's getting harder to turn your steering wheel it could be your power steering but it is most likely your tranny

Noise comes from under the car and seemly under the hood.
its hard to pinpoint it.
mostly everytime you stop and accerelate.
its not the belts. . . cuz i know the belts make a loud screeching noise if loose or too tight.
