New member with some questions
Hello all,
I'm in the process of selling my Saab to move into something a little newer and I really like the CL.
That being said, I have a found a few within two hours of me for reasonable prices.
First though, when I do go to look at these, are there any issues aside from typical inspection stuff to check out? Honda rot? Most of these seem like they don't have rust.
Also, a few years ago I suffered an injury to my left knee, which makes driving a stick uncomfortable at time. Hence why I am selling my Saab. However, most of the CL's I find are sticks. What work would be involved in putting an automatic into a car that is a five speed?
All help is appreciated.

not worth the work. The CL has an auto glass tranny. Honda's in these models are notorious of breaking down. If you generally want to keep the CL for the long haul. we recommend the 5 speed manual. but since you have a bad knee, it would be hard to do that. There are people here that have their autos for awhile, but they are a dime a dozen. You can do preventive work to it, like adding a tranny cooler and change the tranny fluid, but it will happen sooner or later. G/l with your decision.

Don't make the effort to swap a manual to an automatic. The 4 cyl autos are more reliable transmission wise that the 3.0's though, I haven't seen many of them fail. But the autos can be held to last a while, if you take the right preventative measures like watching ur tranny fluid and adding a cooler to it.
Other than the tranny, there's very little to really worry about with these cars, maybe rust depending on where you live, brake calipers, window regulators, and other wear items.

Thanks for the input.
I have owned one Honda product and that was a 1993 Del Sol. I hated it. It sucked in snow, was rusty and the suspension was a pain to work on.
Then again, it was cheap, so I shouldn't complain.

I think I remember when the del-sol first came out, they advertised that you could take the targa top out and it wouldn't blow your hair when going down the road. it was aimed towards the women drivers around here for that reason. I have never ridden in one but always wondered if it actually worked like they said

OP, I've got a bad right knee, and I drive my 5 speed without much trouble. Sometimes it really sucks in traffic (almost had to pull off to the side of the highway in Chicago due to the pain) but it's bearable.
