New To The Cl and Searching for Parts
#42
My advice, lower your car, nowsap. Read around in the n00b guide for parts. Do an h22swap if you want performance. Look through threads in the photo gallery for inspiration.
Get ready to spend a lot of money on an old car that doesn't have much of any aftermarket parts. You probably should have went with a 2nd gen CL if you had money.
Good luck and welcome.

You're missing the point here. Literally no parts are made for this car. You can get... ebay headlights with ugly strips (see davzillas car... he works them though)
or maybe... a lip kit... other than that, basically everything for this car has to be custom fitted and whatnot.
Just blackhouse your headlights, then do a retro swap (97blackackCL) that looks soooo gorgeous.

Oh and to answer your question... I only like guys with short hair. Lol

This just too good to let be.
Search for threads made by me... I asked these exact same questions.
Turbo: you can turbo your f22, sure, but if you want to run anything higher than liek 6-8psi safely you need internal work so it can handle the boost... and your hp maxes out at like 400 with an f22. This is what i've gathered so far.
H22 swap: = what i'm doing. You get about 180whp more reliable horsepower (assuming you do the swap correctly and dont have a shitload of wiring issues) and the h22 is more mod friendly in a sense. IE- swapping cam in an f22 is pointless while in the h22 it may do some helping... etc etc anyways you get more torque and power. and then you always have the chance of boosting the h22 in the future, but you need to reinforce the shit out of that bitch to do so properly.
And dont even begin to ask about j32/j35 swaps... That's too much money even if you do make "great money" at least that's what I think at age 19... just drool over cocoas car and be happy with your shit. Otherwise.. buy an STI.
and I'm out... talk to you guys in 2 days!

do i just swap out the whole assembly from the legend to aleviate the problem of pressing in the rotors and will the bigger rotors fit in my 16 in wheel? thought i saw something about swaping to 98 cl parts in the diy ill have to try and find it again

I can't say for sure it would fit, but I wouldn't see why not.
Converting to the 98-99 setup is another good option - it would make life easier in the future, but won't provide any improved stopping power.

I'm gonna rename this thread to gnate's whore thread. Start with the n00b guide and read up on your car before you consider swaps and turbos, especially if you're new to the import game, you need to know what you're doing before jumping into big projects like that

Yeah... I wasn't thinking

Our car is an import?
Anyways, I just read an article on aftermarket brakes upgrades a while ago that explained when and what you should do. A guy from StopTech said that mostly stock cars don't necessarily benefit from rotor/pad upgrades, and that the best way to improve your stopping distance is to actually buy better tires. Drilled and/or slotted rotors will definitely look cooler, and better pads will increase stopping power a little along with cutting down on brake dust, but you won't really feel a tremendous improvement.
Now if you occasionally track your car, or like to ride the brakes all the time, upgraded rotors will help dissipate heat buildup better.
I would either do the Legend upgrade, or swap in a 98-99 setup to make things easier to deal with.
But a guy like Cocoa needs better brakes, especially after he gets that turbo kit installed
