new cd player

Hey everybody, I know little to nothing about car audio. I was looking to start upgrading the sound system in my car. I was wondering if anyone can recommend any brands, or perhaps even models for a new cd player. I wouldnt be opposed to buying off ebay or some such place. The amount i'm looking to spend would be say 250. Thanks. Also if anyone could recommend a good company to buy an amp from that would be great as well. Thanks

Well to start, let me just throw out some company names for you

Alpine, Pioneer, Eclipse are all three that I would recommend. What options are you looking to have? MP3? Etc...?

For amps there are tons of amps out there. What would you be using it for? Subwoofer or speakers and how much are you looking to spend?

well what i'm looking for in the end would be a system with more of a rich, deep sound (i suppose sort of like a concert hall) than compared to a just plain loud sound. I dont have much use for a lot of bass, but i understand a subwoofer would be needed anyway. I'm looking o spend say 600 or 700 in the end i guess. Mp3 compatibility would be nice. I do plan to replace all the speakers as well, agian if anyone cold recommend a brand that would be great. The installation i can get done for the cost of needed parts, and a friend will build a box for the subwoofer(s). Thanks

Sorry to burst your bubble but theres NO WAY the 7600 is better than the 8600 along with the 8805 being better than the Pioneer 8600.

Some good quality brands for a good price is Eclipse. But I honestly think the best bang for the buck would be to get a Pioneer deck. They would be great for your purposes. Pioneer P7600MP is a great deck.

so what do you guys think about this. Pioneer 7600 headunit and replace the front speakers with infiniti 5000cs speakers. Also what all is required to mount the component speakers.

Friend told me Kenwood was pretty good

I bought this one on ebay for 355.00 shipped. Shopping around, it looks like it retails for at least 400.00 w/o shipping.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...750804430&rd=1

That link is for a used one - it'sgoing for 279 as of right now... cant find any new ones on EBAY though.

Good luck,
-Alex

My mistake sorry. I wanted to say 8600 better than 9600, just miss the numbers... don't buy 7600. it is ugly.. get MP40 instead it is better...
