New Build
if you don't want to read my life's story, and just get to the point of the thread, scroll down to the red letters.
hey guys.
while you all may have not even noticed my absense, i used to be on the forum like twice a day, just devouring knowledge and asking the occasional question.
some of you may have heard of me doing a h22 head swap before i quit going on here.... well, i decided that the cl was just a little too nice to be messing up since i just got it. so instead, i bought a 1990 civic sedan for $500 as a "practice dummy." just to kind of learn what not to do and such, and if i messed up, then i wouldn't be down a daily driver.
Anyway, i did a minor build up on the civic, and have now fallen madly in love with engine building, but i'm left longing for the torque of larger displacement motors, such as the f23a1 found in my first love, the cl (plus everyone has a fucking civic).
And for those who don't care about my life story
i have decided to sell the civic and start fresh on a f/h series build, and i want to ask everyone what they think i should do, (n/a, turbo, to what extent, blah blah) and what i should put it in (accord, lude, the cl). i can find pretty much whatever kind of shell i need, as my friends dad owns a body shop with a huge ass yard full of half-wrecked cars that can be fixed on the cheap.
i'm hoping to get about 1.5k-2k from the civic, so that kind of gives us an idea of what kind of money i'll have right off the bat. but this does not mean that's all the money i'm going to spend on it. i've got a job.
any suggestions? anyone?

Think about it, 2700lbs (roughly) vs our 3100-3300 cars. The stock teg has a 1.8l, ooooo the torque
BTW, I have heard from many many people on these forums, H22 N/A or F22 F23 turbo. There are people on both sides of the fence, but the lower compression of the F series lends itself better to turbos.

if i do boost it, i'll be doing the full meal deal. i can get lower compression/forged pistons. i'm thinking that either way, i'm going to stick with the f block, because of its open-decked, iron-sleeved goodness. h blocks will have to be re-sleeved. however, the h22 head offers the dohc vtec sensation. me gusta dohc vtec.
and i sure do love tegs. if that would work, i'd be all over that shit. do they make mount kits for that? probably not?
but hellz yeah. 2700 stock, and then stripped... that'd be heavenly

Im pretty sure I have seen H swaps into tegs, its a rough fit, but they are laid out exactly the same underneath. Ill crawl around some integra forums and see if I can locate it. F would be idea imo, safe boosted up to 250hp with similar torque.

Here is what you need to do an H swap into a teg. This has a lot of info. Build up the H series, turbo, and you will peel out in every gear
Tegs are great for their suspension, possibly the best handling FWD I have ever drove. Celica was close though.

aauuuugghh....
ok that immediately rules out the integra. i can't have the garage occupied for more than a long weekend (my mom hates clutter). i had planned on building the motor for a while, then buying the shell to swap it in. gonna need something that's a bit more of a direct swap. probably gonna have to go with an older accord or prelude if i can find one. i doubt i'll find another cl for it, just because i never see them around anyway.

(6:47 PM 7/17/2007) FLATBUSH PROJECTS: lets see. what im replacing is crank rods and pistons. new bearings new rings. what your gonna get basically is a h23vtec. with a little under 12.0:1 compression. which is perfect for pump gas. crank rods and pistons will costyou $200. labor for pulling motor and putting it all together is $500 and another $250 for install. then another $200 for misc crap. a little over $1k for astrong setup
(6:48 PM 7/17/2007) FLATBUSH PROJECTS: my friends setup with a ported head stage 2 cams and boltons ran consitant low 12's and high 11's)
Thats for my h22 in my Acura Solora.. u can PM him for details, he might help u out. Mixxwell is his name.

Cheaper than doing a swap, you can boost low psi on stock internals, safely. Thats the route I am ultimatly going to go, especially if things work out the way that I am hoping. Jobwise.

If you're gonna boost it, make sure you do alot of research and know exactly what you want to do with it. Boosting a the f23 in the CL would be a great project, but it can get expensive if you are going for reliability and power.

1. It was sort of a joke...
2. I know you're engine is not stock
3. When I said that I meant like you haven't swapped anything which is where the "sort of" comes in and since its what this thread is about
4. I wouldn't talk shit about a moderator...
5. I wouldn't talk shit about anyone really...

nah, i had all the stuff for it together, but realized the biggest project i've ever taken on is changing a starter, so then sold all of it and bought the civic to learn on. i'm really wanting to do the head swap though. i may end up doing that in this project. not quite sure yet.
