Im puttin in my new alternator in tomorrow aswell, I dont think youll need any special tools, and it look to be easy enough to go thru the top of the engine,

But I would like to know where I can move the belt at, so I can loosen and tighten it as needed

i just ordered my alternator and its a 180 amp off ebay from alterstart. i suggest taking out the radiator shroud (the plastic piece) it will give you a little more room to manuver around our tight engines let me know what alternators are you installing and what do i need when mine gets here. how much ft of 4 gauge wire do you need? and how are you going to run it?

yeah, I got it done, I didnt have replace any wires, it was a lil pain gettin it out of the tight spot but I got it out, but it was alot easier puttin it back in, it was pretty easy, just a lil pain in the but when I was takin out that bottom bolt, but what I did to get it off was take 2 wrenchs and put one on the bolt and the other I used as a breaker, came right loose

I had this problem. I just swapped pullies from the OEM alternator to the new 180-amp alternator.

i was thinking the same dust, but i read that part of the reason that they can get 180 amps out of essentially the same size alternator, is because the smaller pulley spins quicker, making more power available. only what i heard though

the new alternator seems to be kicking a fine amount of ass. last night, driving to santa rosa on the freeway, beat up loud, and no lights dimming AT ALL. it seemed so strange, i kept checking my sub-level to make sure it was regular. fine indeed.
