Need opinion on price quote
First off i don't know much about cars other than simple stuff. I was hearing a weird noise from my tires like spinning metal and I had a mechanic i know take a look at it. He said it i needs new break pads and rotor look like they need to be change. He said the noise will go away if you just change the pads, but the rotors look like they are going bad. So, he said he will change all the break pads and the rotors on my car for $460. So, the question is does that price look reasonable?

holy crap. Do it your self for the love of god and save half. Change the pads definately needed, and see if he will turn your rotors instead of replacing them if you cant do this your self. price the parts out your self, and you will find the answer to your question.

eather way, that is a good price, for a brake place, however i guarantee, they will say you need new calipers, and once they have your car in the shop.. they will tell you they canot let you leave with an unsafe car, and they pretty much make you spend another 400+$$. brake shops are the biggest ripoff. just to change the pads for example maybee 1 hours worth of work for all 4.. they charge 1.5 hours for each. @ ~70$ an hour.. thats how you end up with a 400$ bill. if you have the ability, change them your self. new rotors are maybee 40$ each. and 90% of the time its just the fronts you need to replace IF they are bad. good luck pimp.

I have the 97 acura 2.2CL.
I am going to buy the rotors and the break pads myself and have it installed. The pads cost $21.99 [autozone- life time warranty] the rotors are also costing $21.99[autozone- 2yrs warranty] The mechanic is charging me $35 for installing both the pads and the rotors on each tire. Sounds like a good deal..what do you guys say.
