There should be a TSB on some of our cars, not sure which ones. You might could get them for $free.99.

the '97s get so much love, since they also fall under the emissions recall, they sometimes get free maintenance as well...

What is the reason for this notice?
Honda Motor Co., Ltd. has determined that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in certain Acura automobiles. Some vehicles were manufactured with front suspension lower ball joints tht may prematurely wear out. In the worst case, the ball joint would separate without prior warning, causing the front suspension to collapse. The condition would result in vehicle deceleration and a sudden loss of power. Also, steering controllability would be reduced, and a vehicle crash could occur.

What should you do?
Call any authorized Acura automobile dealer and make an appointment to have your vehicle repaired. They will replace the front lower ball joints. This repair will be done free of charge. Parts are now available. The repair takes about two hours, but please plan to leave your vehicle at the dealer all day to allow them scheduling flexibility.

Well, I spoke to the Acura dealer and there is no recall or tsb concerning my car and ball joints but there is a recall for the ignition switch. Thanks for your response.

The amount of money that you will save by buying the ball joints and doing it yourself will offset the markup, just think of how much you would pay in a shop. Just get the half shafts at autozone, they are 60 bucks each reman. The job is easy to do. I can almost definitely say that the halfshafts from a 97 will NOT fit in out cl's because the 94-97 accord never shared our engine and tranny. Just my 2C

That is sorta true. The 94-97 Accords didn't use our engines, but we have their suspention. Same parts. The 98-02 suspention parts WILL NOT FIT our cars.

You are definitely right about the suspension setup, so i guess if the receivers in the tranny are at the exact same position and width and are the same size it will work, but hey, for 120 bucks and 2 hours worth of garage time who can go wrong with buying the part that fits... right?

Oooo, wait I see what you are talking about now. Hmm, it might use the same drive shafts as the 98+.

That's not what he's looking for tho, he's talking about the suspention piece not the CV joints.

http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org/...catcgry4=KA4AT

Hope that helps, if you can find a honda oem site then just reference the parts.

Thanks charlesgage that is a lot of help. I assume I will also need parts 6 and 7 as well. ORialy's wanted $98 a piece. Do I have to have the ball joints pressed in?

i have never done ball-joints on a CL i recently did my girlfriends probe, i did have to use a press, but i rented the press for free from autozone (they run a free rental but you have to leave a deposit equal to the price of the tool)

Just to ask another question here, according to the picture below, the upper control arm contains a tie rod and not a ball joint?!??!

You can't buy them seperatly? I guess you just replace the bushing?

My front right is chattering and jacking up the front end slowly showed the control arm "Sticking" and not moving fluidly. I guess it could be the pivot mount bushings needing to be greased?

THoughts?
