Need Help Motorheads!
What will I need to slap a h23 Intake Manifold onto a 2.2 CL. I have the manifold, i know ill need the TB. But here is the my delima. Since our cars have vtec at around 4k, the dual runners in the h23 im open around 4 or 4.5k. Will i need a different ECU? Or will the stock f22b1 work on such a project. Also any input or possibly a DIY would be helpful. Thanks guys.

an h23 intake manifold has dual runners. the second set that we dont have (for those of us with 2.2's) open up at 4.5k rpms. it helps with acceleration and your top end.....suprised you didnt know that.
thanks for the help lug nutz

The secondary runner is activated by the IAB selenoid. You can bypass that by hooking up the vacuum line that would connect to that senson directly to the vacuum port for the secondary runner. This way you have dual runner anytime, not just after 4500 rpm. All facts say that this conversion is a waste of time. Why?
1 - Engine will run rough because more air is running thru the manifold into engine.
2 - ECU configurations will have to be arranged for proper HP gain.
3 - $$$ Its costly overall
4 - HP gain will be minimal.
If you gain roughly 40hp with a whole h22/h23 conversion, how much will you gain with the manifold only? Maybe 10HP? Better off buying one of those fake superchargers and get that minimal HP gain.
Defenitaly not worth it.

If you correctly install the manifold and configure your A/F ratio, the car itself should run fine. Of course to be tuned properly it takes time and sometimes a professional. I dont see what the cost would be, IM throttle body and possibly an ECU. Talking tops of 200 bucks for about 10hp? that doesnt seem so bad to me. What did you pay for headers? About 200 bucks for 10 hp so I don't see why everyone is against it. I guess ill just let you guys know how it turns out when i get it done.

if you are gonna swap the h manifold in, make sure the h engine is attatched to it
