Need a BJ (brake job). DIY?

I need to replace the rear brakes on my 99 3.0. I know a good and cheap mechanic but he is always busy. Should I do it myself? I am capable of working on my cars, I am just wondering if this is worth doing myself.
Also, what brake pads are OE? Semi-metallic, organic, ceramic...?
Thanks.

Nah. My CL is driven less than 10 miles a day M-F. As much as I'd like to get the brembos it would not be justified. The stock replacement rear pads are prolly $50. I am more into regular maintenance than upgrades and am wondering if the brake job is something I should do myself.
