My gas gauge light does not come on at all even when the indicator needle is just before E.

Is there a simple fuse that controls the warning light?

What should I check first?

maybe the bulbed is burned?? take out the cluster and replace it.

 

yeah its pretty easy taking the cluster out and replacing the buld...just need a screw driver.

 

i think i need this too. what kind of bulb does it take and how exactly do you change it?

Damn, i thought it was just my car!!! My light doesnt come on either. I was living on the edge for the first month by purposely allowing my gas level to become very low. Guess its burnt out. Anyone know the bulb type?

hey my car gas light doesn't come on until i'm like right below the E line...and that's when i have 3 gallons left...have u checke dhow many gallons it fills when u filled it last? liek when you tried to make it run super low...i did the same test and it took a while to get that low...filled up 14.5 gallons out of 17.2

 

My light never comes on either. Sometimes I've let the needle go all the way down to E and the light never comes on. When I fill up with gas, it takes about 16 gallons. I gotta check my cluster lights! Maybe it when out when I installed my indiglos about a year ago. :duuno:

 

i have been riding low too trying to figure out when this light will come on, guess i better buy a gas can and keep it filled in my trunk, my last fillup i went 348 miles hard driving and i filled up only 14.6 gallons, is there a certian point at which the indicator is supposed to come on at?

 

the indicator supposed to come on w/ 3 gallons left. and our tanks can hold 17 gallons. i've never ever gotten that low. the lowest i've had is like 12 gallons and that looked like a lota money when i fill it up :P

 

Thanks guys I guess i thought it was broken because the gas light on my girlfriends civic comes on when you have a quarter tank or less.

 

After calculating my mileage, I can say that the light didn't come on in my CL until 2 gallons were left. The needle was completely passed "E".

 

I've actually run out of gas before and the damn light didn't come on. I guess I should really put in a new bulb.

Anybody know the size of the bulb? I've never openned up my gauge cluster.

 

My light didn't come on last night before i filled up, and i had only like .5 gallons left in the tank. Whew thank god i went to the gas station before the bank!

Seems to be a fairly common problem. Too bad they won't recall it hehe
