my crazy install weekend | navi | headers that dont fit | tC springs

Well this weekend I spent a good 18hours installing car parts. Im about to collapse, I came down with a fever halfway through the installs too.

Well first off me and my friend spent fri night installing my eclipse avn5435 until like 530am. We had one hell of a time trying to find the VSS wire and we still cant find it. So im going to be taking it into my friends stereo shop next week to have him correct everything.

Sat we spent installing my megan racing headers. The bolts were an absolute BITCH to get to and get off. And after a good 3 hours or so low and behold the downpipe doesnt connect to the cat correctly thus causing an exhaust leak.

I was wondering if anyone with 4cly MR headers had this problem as well? My car sounded like complete ASS. I just got it back from an exhaust shop today, I had them cut off the last part of the downpipe and reweld it straight. I'm going to be talking to the MR vendor guy today to see what he has to say about all this.

Then all day sunday we spent lowering my friends TC on some tein s-techs. She was pretty juiced to have to car dropped, heres some quick pics of that. The springs still have to settle in a bit. She was scared that the s-techs were too low, now she wants it lower! She said up next is a CF hood and lip.

anyways enough jabbering, here are some pict0rz

out with the old

and in with the new

heres the damn horrible gap

in the process of the AVN5435 install, looks like a whole lotta fun

90% done. Still dont have the right trim or the VSS hooked up so for now its all ghetto fabbed like this

So i also took off my sides to see what it would look like. Not sure if i'm feeling it or not...opinions?

And finally the TC lowered, and my car with skirts for reference

Keep the non-stock skirts. Maybe moulding them would make them blend better???

I like your car better w/ the skirts on. It might look alright w/ the stock skirts if you didn't have a rear lip, but w/ the rear lip, the stock skirts just look funny.

just my

Wow, that ass shot of your car sittin in the driveway is sooo nice, for some reason. Everything just looks perfect. Your car's stance is sooo ill.

I envy you for throwing around thousands of dollars like every 1 or 2 months, lol. It took me all winter to save up for the wheel/tire package that I'm finally buying this week...

nice looking klepto!!! BUT.........ive got some questions about the AVN install. Im more than likely getting the same unit next month. Currently i have an Eclipse CD5444 in my '98 2.3. When i installed that, i noticed that there is nothing to really mount the AVN unit to, just the mounting point that the factory CD player uses in the rear. There is no way that i would use a cage to install a unit like that, its worth WAY too much, if i put it in my car it HAS to be bolted in. Did it not come with a trim piece? i noticed there is a gap around the whole unit on your install. Let me know how you like it and anything else you think i should know.

THANKS!!!

That is true, but the stock skirts look so plain compared to the front and rear lips.

looks 1000x cleaner with oem skirts, unless you want to lower both lips and mold them. i think since your lips are not molded its what really drawing your eyes to the oem skirts becuase its over obvious that the front and rear are aftermarket. keep the stockers

glad to see u got the eclipse unit and installed it... as for the skirts, I like it stock. The heights seem to flow better now, but it does lose some agreesiveness without them.

I rub on big dips on the highway and going up some driveways where I have to really crank the wheel. I pulled my fenders and set my teins on the stiffest setting too and yet I still shed a tear everytime it rubs on the freeway

Mine are tucked but not as low as u have yours. And yes mine rubs on the dips on the freeways going about 80 and turning the wheel too. So we have the same problem. haha...i don't feel so bad now..

yea, i pushed the tabs back. With the turning it rubs when its on a incline. On the freeeway it only rubs at 80mph on those dips, i thought it might be the fender but its not. When I jacked up my car, and looked inside. It was rubbing on the inner fender part (the actual metal part of the car).
