Thumbs up My brother hit my parked car and it's my fault!?!?

So not even 5 minutes ago my brother hit my parked car in the driveway (I'll have pics tomorrow it's too dark.) He was backing out and forgot that my car was parked in a position that takes up less than half the driving space but it stills leaves plenty of room to get by on the left side. Anyways he forgets my car's there and backs out like normal instead of being a little too the left side of the driveway and he's right in the middle and the back passenger side of his car hits my driver side mirror and my driver side door and the driver side rear panel (?) but leaves the front side panel and my bumpers untouched. Which means my clear corners and my newly installed WW lip are good. Thankfully!! So then my sister walks in my room and knocks on my door laughing and says you need to go outside. I ask why? She says "didn't you hear that noise!" I'm like what, aww crap, are you kidding me? I wasn't listening so I didn't hear the noise but I knew someone hit my car. I thought it was her at first but it ended up being my brother. The one who's never been in an accident. I didn't get mad I never do in these situations, I mean that's why they're called accidents. So I check out the damage and walk back in the house to find my mom yelling at me that it's my fault that my parked car was hit!!! In case you haven't realized she's crazy but I put up with it cause I'm saving lots of $$ every month but I'm gonna move out when I get out of college. When I take pics tomorrow I'll show you how much room there was. Everyone has parked at the same spot many many times in the 12 years in this house and there's plenty of room to get by.

This would make it my sixth accident I've been in. This is my 2nd with this car and I've only had it 14 months and both not my fault. The other 4 which were my first 4 were my fault so, I've been in the person's shoes too many times so I'm cool. Funny thing is I was just thinking today (cause I just changed my car insurance company and the new packet came in the mail today) I better use this crap, I hate paying for things I'm not gonna fully use. After my last accident I'm gonna guestimate the damage is about $1.5k. Here's the link to my last wreck in this car

It'll be back on the road in a couple weeks it's not bad it was very low speed since it happened in driveway. Actually now that I think about it I don't know if there are any dents on my car. IDK I'll check in the morning. Yeah it'll be cheaper for him if I report it. my parents would never pay for it they ain't like that. It's funny he kinda bummed out right now, I'm not even upset. I feel like I felt after waiting in line for a PS3 for 15 hours and being 3 away from getting one, which hey that didn't bother me much. I'm used to stuff not going right so I'm cool!

I went out and took a good look at my car and I was right the car doesn't have any dents but it's got a bad scratch from the front of the drivers door all the way to the back side of the rear wheel well. Good thing I haven't put my rims on I would've been pissed if they got scratched! His car has a dent and one of his lights are broken the worst part of my car is that my driver sideview mirror is hanging by the wire. When I saw my mirror I thought of asainspec!! HAHA IN YOUR FACE!!

why are you going to go through insurance? i dont think the damage is big enough to have to go through insurance. You're just going to raise his rates

This is true Tell him not to go through insurance. STUPIDEST MOVE EVER.
Theyll Raise it for sure. INSURANCE COMPANYs ARE DICKS!.

I HATE THEM.

we pay them every month to insure our cars.
If we get in a wreck. We still pay 500 deductable.PLUS they add another 40 dollars month or whatever they jack it up to.

WE COULD BE SAVING THAT MONEY!!!! INSTEAD OF PAYING THOSE BASTARDS.
WHY THE FUCK DO WE HAVE INSURANCE I DONT GET IT.
they screw us either way.

just mad about the situation im going through.

Yeah I was saying insurance when I thought it was gonna be alot more. Since I just need a new mirror and repaint I'll get an estimate and let him decide. but still having been through many wrecks a wreck like this won't do much in the way of a rate increase. I think the cost of repair and my rental car would be more than the rate increase he'd receive. Then if the cost of his repair is more than his deductible he'd have to pay that in addition. Still might go through insurance when you add up the amount it'll cost him. Plus he'll have to pay the repair right now while you can spread out the rate increase of his insurance over a 6 month period. I 5mph accident in your driveway with minor damage and no bodily injuries is the least severe accident there is, it's not gonna double his rates or anything even close to that.

We have insurance so that when someone who has no money hits your car and totals it you will get some money. Your not gonna get money from someone who doesn't have any. People don't rob the homeless. Also it wouldn't ruin that person's live having to basically buy you a new car and by themselves a new car not to mention any medical bills, etc. It can get very expensive very fast most people don't have that kindof money to shell out $50k for two cars and medical bills and it can get a lot higher than. you don't have $50k lying around do you just in case you fuck up. That's why you pay for something you hope you never need but when you do and it's you at fault you're damn glad you have it! That's why it's required and probably cause the insurance companies paid off the politicians too!!

dude your an idiot. I try and stay away from inflamitory remarks like that but seriously you are making me say this. You have no idea what you are talking about. This GREAT COUNTRY makes you pove financial responsibility when you drive because cars are very dangeous, and everyone is making an investment in their vehicles. I so far have been in three accidents myself. One was with an uninsured illegal imigrant that pulled out infront of me, one was a drunk uninsured illegal imigrant that ran into a minivan and then spun out and hit me on the highway, and the third was a ding ding ding, 18 year old kid who didnt see the merits of having insurance and chose not to spend the 50 bucks a month or whatever to have liability insurance. I was injured in both accidents, and in both cases my medical bills were over 5000 dollars. I paid my 500 dollar deductible and that was it, and my vehicle was repaired. Did you know one of the number one causes for bankruptcy in this GREAT COUNTRY is not being able to pay your emergency room visit after a car accident? Being 18 I am sure you some amazing insight into how things work, some vision as to how it is. I guess I just cant catch it. If you dont want to pay the insurance every month you dont have to. There are provisions for that in this GREAT COUNTRY. You have to set aside a certian amount of money with the state to once again prove your financial responsibility. Of course I somehow doubt that you are somehow financially responsible enough to do that as you are covered only by liability insurance. Were you paying full covereage every month you would have paid your deductible and thats it. Like I did. I realize at this point I am ranting but this seriously just pisses me off.

I know that's exactly what I said!

I do have small dents where the scrape is so I'm gonna need more than a repaint. It's a combination of silver paint and my being scraped all the way to the metal. Would be tight if I could get a new door. I need a new mirror since I broke it even further trying to make it so it wasn't dangling as I was driving.

OH and I just found out that my comptech supercharger with the intercooler and my Dr. Evil tranny don't work anymore either I'm gonna have to get a new one of those also!! Neither does my Brembo BBK front and back and the don't sell those individually, I'm gonna have to get 2 new sets, THIS SUX!! But hey at least my turbonator still works, that's what most important!!

My frustration was more geared towards the insurance companies. Not what I think about this country....

I have been in 3 different insurance company claims. None of which were my fault, but ended up costing me a hell of a lot of money. Will I continue to pay insurance. Hell ya. But its just bullshit that something that I didn't bring on myself costs me money. When i pay insurance PREMIUMS I should have to not pay for anything.

Well I just got back from getting an estimate and they said $1900 with OEM parts.
this is what they said needs to be done:
Front fender repair& refinish
New outer door panel and new door molding $361.68
New side mirror $167.12
New molding 1/4 side panel 76.03
Repair and refinish Panel 1/4 assembly
23.5 total hours of Labor $928.00
Total with 7% tax $1884.09

Obviously this is way more than it would cost my brother if he went through insurance. He'd just pay an increase in his rate and since this was just a low speed accident with no injuries it won't increase his rate alot. His insurance isn't going to go from $1000 to $3000 it might go up a couple hundred bucks a year but that's still much less than $2000. This is exactly why you have insurance.

Good luck.

Wow, that's a lot of body work. As for the mirror, you can get one super cheap on ebay. You can even get a new fender for like $99

Yeah these were OEM parts not LKQ. I remember in my last wreck Wilp telling me to insist on OEM and not LKQ. I think it's smarter to go through the insurance, that's what I"m telling him to do. It's either that or pay ~$2000 right now, which I don't think he wants to do nor do I want him to have to do that.

You can get an oem mirror from ebay, that's what I was trying to tell you. I helped asianspec get one for like $10

But hey, if ins is payin for it, go brand new oem all the way, when I got my front and rear bumpers replaced I got brand new oem
