what year and model. My boy has a 94 gt 5.0 with cat back and an H pipe and he rips on me every race. A newer body style will beat you even worse. Maybe if they are auto's or shitty drivers

ok 3 was a 96-98 gt 4.6 bodystyle, 2 were 99-up 4.6 gt. not sure what exact year but its those body styles. and they all were standard. this last one was the 96-98 gt bodystyle. my friends didnt believe at first but when we were out one messed with me and we went for it and were dead even in first then the mustang hit second and i pulled half a car. in second he stayed there and he hit third i was still in second and pulled again. the he quit.

they must not have known how to drive, or you have nos or something.

mustangs are much faster than even a heavily modded 1st gen

the 95-97 GT's were pretty slow, I usually beat them, w/ some mods they can hang w/ me. But it's really up to the driver on that kind of race.

97 were rated at 215hp, i think. Sounds resonable that a cls would win that race.

^ I know that. I'm assuming his is slower than a cl-s, which is more reason that a mustang would beat him.

what mods do you have viper

You should have left it alone with the 95 - 97 GT; now this sounds really absurd based on the information presented

I'm curious, is this indicative of the 1gen forum. :P

I am sure you are being honest. But I am not sure they were really racing. The power and weight numbers do not support the claim unless the other parties were not trying.

I could easily take one now but back before the blower, etc. in my CL-S6, when it was NA (247 WHP), the '99+ GT's were a handlful.

The only other explanations are issues with the car. As I stated, the power and weight do not account for this unless something is awry. The 99+ GT will run close to a 14.0 at 96 - 98 MPH. You would be luck to hit within 1.5 seconds and 8 - 10 MPH of that. This would be significant.

ClPower, I am not sure, there is just about nothing significant mod wise that you can do to a CL, i would have to re-check the quarter numbers. But I had head work, intake, ignition, low rear with LSD, etc, i just don't think anybody here could have taken it, even stock, those stangs keep pulling through 90 where the 4 sp manuals leave off, even my integra GSR pulls through to 150, and i raced a VW GTI VR6 6-speed and i beat that and there is no way you can tell me that the 1st gen can take a new VR6.

hey i have lost to mustangs but it depends on the driver. a race is a race doesnt matter it you win or lose i just do it for fun. i have even raced a 2002 corvette and i knew i was going to lose but who cares.

oh, i'm not saying the first gen is fast, i'm saying that stock 95-97 GT's aren't much quicker w/ a good driver and an avg driver they are on par. I've raced more then my fair share of them.

What have you been supplying him!!!

I just don't get it. The Legend is a fine, older, vehicle. But it isn't a speed demon just like the CL. Why pretend or play on something it is not. I would rather discuss how the over all car is significantly better than the GT than to talk speed games.

his name was Legend420, he swear he could drift in his CL and even claimed he was an awesome driver even though he only practiced on the streets and didn't have any suspension mods done to his car. He would often talk about drifting around a 40 mph freeway off ramp

give me your email, i'll send you the link the thread had 20,000 views

Hey, you can't knock the Legend. One time we had a meet in Long Island and there was a guy with a stock Legend that kept up with a CL-S (It was Scooter's cl). I think the 93-95 legend coupes were about 230hp.

Probably a shitty driver or a V-6 model. A stock V-8 1990 Mustang will do 14.9, a 1994 does 15.10, and a 1999 will do 14.10.

I wasn't knocking the Legend, you may have misread what I typed.

It, like the CL, is not a real performance car. They have many other significantly better aspects over a GT. The GT just happens to be quicker and has more potential to increase its speed capability.

this guy had the 4 door, and some of the old 6 speed coupes may be able to hold up but that's it.

I think Mustangs are fucking gay. Sure some of them are fast, but there are plenty of cars in their same price range that will out perform them. From what I've seen, most of the Gilligan's who own Mustangs are arrogant dickheads who think their car is the coolest thing in the world. Fuck'em.
