motor swap question

I have a 97 3.0 CL and want to do a motor swap. I want to drop in a CL Type-S motor and tranny because my dads mechanic said thats its difficult but he can do it! i also hear that an h22 is a common swap for our cars. Also would using parts from the type-s motor be better then using the actual motor???? What do you guyz recommend?????? also is there a tranny that fits the 3.0 motor? (manual)

its not really a question of will it fit, but rather do you want to spend the money on a J32a, figure about 2x's that of what an h22 swap would be in a 2.2/2.3...nobody has done an h22 swap in a 3.0 so we dont know if it will fit or not. and for the tranny, Hoffhines supposedly did the typeS 6spd swap in his 3.0, but not sure of costs...a lot $$$.

hope you got a lot of green bro
h22 whatever version is a prelude motor (4cyls) ~ 200hp
it will drop right into a cl with stock mounts - 2.2 or 2.3 without a lot of modification, BUT 3.0 is a 6 cyl so i think the motor mounts are different and i don't know if anyone has done this but for sure if you do you also have to go man trans so there's another $$$$ (You don't HAVE to go man tanny but if your doing this much work u should)
type S motor -- i'm sure it would work, but not very cost-effective -- the motor will be AT LEAST 5 grand and install - the labor god only knows!?!?!
keep dreaming or hit the lottery (-:

i have a question.....would a h23a fit in a CL? cause those are actually better for turbo, since they aren't VTEC.....

also.....one of my home boys has a 92 prelude and he told me that it's really expensive to do a h22 swap into a CL, and all the mounts are different and it has to be a custom install......I was curious to see if anyone could estimate a price on that for me...??

no my dad owns an auto body shop and he has some connections (hes also a mechanic) so labor prices i dont have to worry about just the price for the motor and tranny plus extra expenses!!! so i dont really have to "keep dreaming" SWCLOWN!!!!!

ok u da man. i'm not hating, just being realistic. i've had this car for 3 years, been on the board for two and i have heard this topic come up a lot without any follow-through. i would LOVE to see you do this bro! and would be way impressed with your connections because this still wont be easy. i have faith though - good luck

if you try the typeS swap you need to use the 3.0 tranny if you want to stay auto... as far as the CL-S 6-speed motor, it's also possible but the hardest part is finding the motor and trans for a good price...

i have thought about doing this too ... i haven't found any 6-speed CL-S motors... i priced a new 6-speed tranny and they wanted 5k FOR JUST THE TRANS

good luck with your project

H23 will swap into the CL with the same ease as the H22.

your frined is wrong, swapping the H22 into the 2.2/2.3 CL is the same as swapping it into the 94-97 accord.
