Milling the head

What exactly does it mean to mill the head. What are the benefits? what are the disadvantages? How much does it cost? Is it worth doing to a 3.0 v6 CL?

milling the head would be to remove material from the head.....basicly to increse compression (ie: more power).

You'll have to mill both of your heads.

I would do this last. Its a pricey Mod and depending on the new compression, you may have to get better pistons and especially rings. I believe unless your racing your car there is no need to do this for 5-7 extra hps max. This is also a mod that the more you have done to your motor the more beneficial it becomes.

milling the head increases compression ???

I always thought it refered to a port and pollish or extrude hone job. matching the intake runners to the block. To increase air flow to the clyinders. besides removing marerial from the a clyinder would decrease the compresion i thought.

heads have nothing to do with the compression. deck height, bore size, piston type, and rod length can affect the compression ratio, not a port and polish.

Hate to tell ya, but youre wrong.

Milling the head is equivelant to lowering the deck height.

Porting and polishing a head is not the same as milling the face that sits on the block.
