Miles per tank 99 2.3?
I got ~ 320 per tank, which is about 17MPG. Is that normal? I have a 5spd and and shift aroun 2k. Seems really low to me.

Seems low to me for a 2.3, my 3.0 gets almost 400 gallons per tank

Miles per tank is pretty meaningless.
It's easy to accurately calculate mpgs. Fill up your tank to full, set travel odometer to zero. Next fill up go to full again - divide miles on travel odometer by gallons needed to fill up.
I consistently get about 28 mpgs on my 98 2.3 5-speed. About 3/4 of my driving is highway, where I go about 75-80 mph most of the time.

hills kill my gas mileage. i can get around 30mpg in NJ (where its completely flat), but in VA/NC my gas mileage is lower because of the hills, same mixed driving. i have a 2.3 5spd.

That seems really low. I recently drove cross country and I was pushing 550 Miles to a tank at one point. I recently drove to Salt Lake City from Moran, WY, which is 310 miles. I was just a bit below half a tank when I arrived at the airport. No mods or anything on my car. Maybe i'm just lucky?

I get more than that on my 3.0 so seems to be really low to me as well. If you are changing gears at 2k the manual should get better gas mileage than an automatic. If you are dogging a car with a manual then you can lose gas mileage but driving correctly usually makes the manual get higher MPG

the user manual actually specifies what MPH to shift into each gear for optimum fuel ecomony...i kno the corrosponding RPM is higher than 2k. maybe give it a read and see if it helps

after reading everyone elses post i think im getting horrible gas mileage since at 15 gallons i get less than 400 miles. my car is automatic but still if all you guys that are 5 speed get 400+ on a tank shouldnt auto be just a bit behind you guys?

My Rx7 gets better gas mileage and it eats gas. You need to look into that. Change some plugs, wires, o2 sensors, blah blah blah.
I'm getting 22mpg in my 3.0 and I live in Seattle (the city sits on 7 hills)
