messed up lug nut threads

ok so i go to put my c2s on my car, and i find that one of the front lug nuts was cross threaded. Only for the irst quarter inch but none the less. So, has anyone here changed a front lug on a 97 model 3.0 cl? Do I have to pull the whole front axle or what all is involved? lemme know.

If only the near-end threads are affected, buy a die (I think 12mm x 1.5mm but check your specs) to chase the threads and allow the nut to engage the stud. This won't affect strength since only the early threads are affected.

good luck

you could rethread it if you wanted to. but id recommend go to a honda dealership and buy a new lug its like 2 bucks or something. remove wheel with bad lug, remove caliper member bolts not the caliper itself but the whole assembly with caliper member. turn hub until the lug lines up with the notch cut out in the backing plate, hammer out the lug and install new lug, use a space such as a washer, or oversized lug nut and use the factory nut to drive in the new lug reassemble all the parts and your done. ive done this twice on my 97. good luck.
