manual shift an auto or leave on drive

when racing a automatic(2.2) does it make a difference if i upshift from 1 or leave it on drive?

my stock 2.2 clocked 17.1

for some reason, i cannot get into 16's....

If you shift 1-2-D3 you can force it to rev past redline.

brake torque is when you hold down the brake all the way down but rev it to 3-4k and jsut let go of the brake and floor it, but it hurts your brakes and your engine/tranny. best bet is to just go from a roll.
