Magnaflow 14816

Hey guys, I just installed a magnflow 14816 muffler with axle back 2 1/4" piping today. I knew it was going to be louder than stock but I thought it would be throaty. I used to have a flowmaster on my old 4 cylinder toyota and this sounds very similar. The magnaflow is nice while cruising and braking but there is alot of very loud droning while accelerating. This is just not what I was expecting. It just seems to ricey for my nice car. I kept my stock muffler so I will probably be putting it back on tomorrow or the next day and then putting my magnaflow on sale at ebay pretty soon in case anyone is interested, along with my old wheels and tires and stock springs. I guess this was an expensive lesson to learn, $35 dollars for the work today and probably another $35 or so to reverse it, plus I now have to but another chrome finisher tip for my stock muffler because when they took it off, they just threw it down and now one of the tips is dented, so there's another $40. BTW, my car is a 3.0 and I kept everything in front of the rear axle stock.

So, 3.0 with Magnaflow sounded wrong? Good to know, I was wondering... Can you upload an audio clip...?

I would like to but I don't have anything right now to record it, but I'll see what I can find. I know it would be helpful because the only 3.0/magnaflow combo that I have heard was wakeboardfusion's and I searched for awhile before purchasing mine. I guess it would sound better with intake and headers like wakeboardfusion's.

damn, i'm going to do the same thing with my 3.0 tommorow, I guess I will jsut put it on and see how it sounds. If It sucks I will try to replace the stock resonator with a magnaflow one and maybe that will fix it.

hey 97Acura3.0, did you sell you magnaflow 14816? or did you just go and buy the resonator instead? it would be good to have an update on this though, you see, I have the magnaflow 14816 just installed and I just love it so far, they are cheaper on ebay but I wanted a warranty (the salt on the roads here in winter kills an exhaust) so I got it here magnaflow 14816 , or you can try one of the vendors here, they are always running sales/specials. either way its a great system and very easy to install... so which worked or you so far?
