Why wouldnt you just buy a new resonator and tone it down a little bit?

That doesnt seem too loud, maybe is louder in person or whatnot. I still prefer intakes for sound, exhausts just get too annoying on the highway, plus they're a cop magnet

For those who aren't familar with the Mag muff:

5" x 8" Oval Street Series Polished Stainless Steel Universal Muffler With Tips

The vid sounds pretty good (I have the same muffler but with other Mag parts too).

Sounds damn sweet.

It's funny since I changed to the whole Mag exhaust setup, I did notice that my muff exhaust tips have more carbon build-up on them -- but do scrub off easily when a light brush is applied to it.

Not burning any oil whatsoever.

It could be attributed to the swap from the original OEM Catalytic convertor to the High Flow Magnaflow Cat (with O2/sensor), with 22" Magnaflow Resonator.

Seems when I switched all to the free flowing setup its just some carbon build up, but no blue/white smoke of any kind.

I'm a chemical engineer so I'm trying to figure this out..

I think extra carbon would be due to the O2 sensor.. remember there's two of them. Don't know if the cat converter produces carbon in itself or not.

I will be going to the Magnaflow cat within a year, my OEM one is rattling inside, but keeping the rest of the piping.

I get carbon constantly, even within two minutes of running the engine.

I think that due to the extra increased flow of exhaust from the enlarged diameter of piping (plus overall free-flowing) it simply seems like more carbon build up.

I know its not the type where it keeps caking on and builds up, but more like I notice it only after I've washed down the car and the exhaust tips are sparkling, then after a short drive its got the carbon back on.

The carbon buildup is caused by the cat converter not completely incinerates the mixture of air/fuel/gas being passed thru the exhaust plumbing. The OEM cat slows down the airflow so it can burn the mixture completely, but you guys replaced it with hi-flow cats so there's ought to be carbon build up at the tips...

hmm that must be the reason why i had a nasty carbon build up over the winter due to my straight pipe. but only in the winter i might have to add. maybe i should stop being so lazy and get a de-fouler already.

[QUOTE=unlewser]Got the exhaust on, but it was a little loud so i took it off.

2.25 piping from the flex pipe(behind the stock resonator) back

Will be selling it soon.

I know exactly how you feel. I had a magnaflow 14816 and axle back 2.25" piping for about 24 hours. It was just way too loud and it brought out all sorts of rattles inside. It did sound nice coming down the street but way to obnoxious for me. glad to hear someone else thought the same. I sold mine on ebay.

Would this be a good replacement for my stock setup that has a hole in it now, and the heart shield is about to come off haha.

How much should I expect to spend?
