While I'm not lowered, I can comment on the snow tires debate. I have a 5-speed (generally harder to drive in snow than an auto) and don't have dedicated snow tires, yet I had no problem last winter in Indiana, which gets the same weather as here in Ohio. I just have the average all weather tires (can't remember the brand, as I have 3 on there right now) but they work just fine. If I get some 18's next summer, I'll definitely keep the stock rims and get snow tires, as that's the only reason they'd come out.
