looking to run 14's

How much do you guys think I need to invest in a '98 2.3 to run mid to low 14's without NOS? What way do you think the fatest way to get there headers, chip (if there is one out there), etc?

H22A or FI.

Good friggin luck trying to get that thing to run low to mid 14s. Its hard enough trying to do that with a 3.0

It achieving your goal is just for the track (short spurts), then Nitrous is the best way. If you're looking for sustained speed, then go with a turbo or engine swap.

Even though you were looking to do it without nitrous, it will cost less than any of the other options.

If you want to absolutely stay away from nitrous, I'm not sure which will cost more to get you car to run the 14's you are looking for. Buying all the bolt ons and a turbo, or an H22 swap with some bolt ons. I am thinking that a swap would cheaper than throwing a turbo on. Again, this is only for 14's.

Sorry, but theres no way you can make an f23a1 do 14's without forced induction. I barely made my 2.3 CL get into the 14's and thats with a 75 shot of nitrous and about $2,000 worth of mods.
If you want to go all motor and get your CL into the 14's then get rid of the f23a1 do an h22 swap with simple bolt ons and you'll be in the 14's.
Its just the only way to make a car thats suppose to be running mid 16's to drop two seconds off its time.

How big is the H22 motor and what year prelude does it come with. How much am i looking to spend. Maybe i should just invest in a Supra TT

The h22 is from 92-96 vtec preludes and any 97+ prelude. There are some differences in the years an wether its from Japan or the US. The US version from 92-96 (H22a1) has 190 HP and is a DOHC VTEC. The US version for the 97+ prelude has 200 HP and is a DOHC VTEC (H22a4). The japanese version are all 200 HP DOHC VTEC (h22a). All models of the h22 bolt right into any 4 cylinder CL. I would be suggest that you get a h22 that was made after on or after 1996 since thats when OBD2 was used. Our cars are OBD2 so it would simplify wiring of the engine. It is possible to use an obd1 h22 (92-95) but the wiring is a little more complicated. The average JDM h22 swap runs you about $2,500 for the engine, transmission, and ecu. USDM h22a1 will run you about $2,000 and h22a4 will run you around $3,000. I can go on and on but will leave it at that.

Your best bet would be a 96 h22a. 93-96 h22's are closed deck motors and are more reliable if ur lookin to do a turbo upgrade. I kno nothing about the j-spec motors (if they are closed and open and which years). 97 and up h22's are ok if ur lookin to go n/a.
intake headers and exhaust adn u'll run 14's ... low 14's will require some cams, fpr, tb, ignition, some kinda fuel and vtec controller.
