looking to get a cl

a few quick questions:

which years/engine configs have the 5-speed manual?

i am looking for a smaller, sportier car, is a CL a good car to get? i am definately looking for a 1g cl, i dont have the money for a 2nd gen.

how is the reliablity and performance?
are parts easy to come by?

thanks for any help

97, 98, and 99 have 5 speed manual transmissions. The 97 is 2.2 liters 145hp and the 98 and 99 are 2.3 liters 150hp.

this isnt really a small car. it's just as big as an Accord (because it basically is one) and probably most other sedans, just it only has 2 doors, which for me is a plus.

150hp on a 3000lb car isnt really what i would call sporty, but it definatly looks better than a lot of other cars and has sufficient power. with a few mods it has a bit of get up.

the biggest problems as far as reliability deal with the automatic transmission models. the manual has typical honda reliability.

by parts i dont know if you mean performance upgrades or regular replacement parts, but neither should be a problem. most things are shared with the accord, which is far more common.

To piggy back on what runner said, the CL's suspension is basically the same as the 90-97 accord. The 3.0's have 200hp and doesn't come with a 5spd and parts for the engine are expensive and hard to come by. The 2.2/2.3 you can basically get anything. It's same engine as the accord, F22. If you get a 4 banger do yourself a favor and stick with a manual.
