lack of heat
damn it's getting cold in Charlotte now.
My Cl doesn't produce heat anymore. When I last had my car at Acura for an A/C recharge, the tech told me I had some swtich under the dash behind the glove box that tells the car to make hot or cold air and that my "swtich" is stuck.
can anyone tell me the exact name of this "swtich"? I need to get one since I can see my own breath inside my car!

and it's probably your thermostat. the car should send in hot air from the engine.
never heard of a switch. I know it has a temp sensor on the driver side. but I
don't think that over rules the climate CONTROLS. get the thermo checked.

sorry for that misspelling
any idea if I can "check" the thermostat myself? or does it need to be checked with a tool by the mechanic?
and I know it get cold-ER in NY and NJ but it gets in the teens here in the winter and yes, we do get snow. any kind of weather that requires you to wear a jacket is cold.
i was just told that it could be the "expansion valve" from a friend at a dealership. has anyone ever had experience with it?

my brother and sister live in Charlotte. you guys get snow like MAYBE two days outta the year. when it does you shut shit down for days.
as far as the expansion valve(just guessin) maybe it is what releases the hot air into the car when the thermostat tells it to
it's gotta be connected some how

ya i saw on the football game last night you guys got a couple inches of snow in Denver!
my car gets warm(engine), but not the A/C, at all, it feels like it blows on max cold all the time no matter what temp.
and it doesnt have to snow for it to be cold! 32 degrees is freezing and we get enough of those nights here to be cold.

You shouldn't even need the heat living where you do, just put on a jacket or something. It hasn't been too bad on this side of the border yet, but every year we get about a month or two of temperatures around -25 degrees celcius, which is -13 Fahrenheit. Sometimes it gets as cold as -30 or -35 celcius (about -30 fahrenheit), and thats when you have to plug in your car to even get it started. I bet not many of you have block heaters in your CL's.

well to respond one more time, I would like to point out that it is STILL cold, I dont care if you survive 10 degrees or -50 degrees.....30 degrees F is still cold and I would rather get some help figuring out how to fix it than try to argue against mother nature and why it gets colder as you go farther north.....

anyways basically how your temp knob works is that there's a wire connected to the back of the knob..when you turn the knob one way, the string will get pulled.....this string is connected to the "device" your tech guy was talking about..and this wire would pull on a part of the device which was sorta like a lever and this lever controlled how hot or cold your temp is depending on its position.....sorta understand?
anyways, first you should try looking for the device..it's covered by a small cover that can be pulled off because it's just held by clips (basically like everything on the car)...try moving the lever back and forth...if it can move tell the tech guy he's an idiot
if it's able to move, then you'll have to take apart the dash to get behind the temp knob...tug on the wire by the metal threads (part of the wire will be covered by a black tube) and see if it can move the switch...if it does then the wire obviously isn't cut for whatever reason
then, make sure that the black tube that covers the wire is GLUED or somehow held onto the dash itself...if it's lose, you can't push and pull on the wire
this was what happened to my car...there's been alot of failures like this with accords and i assume your car is no different...does your temp knob feel really easy to turn?
