K&N filter

Does anyone know how much horsepower you can get just out of a K&N replacement filter?

Hardly any from the flat stock one, MAYBE 5 from a CAI or Short ram.

a lot of the gain seen from cai's and the like is from the filter element, i would venture a good 2-3 hp.

You will not get "extra HP" from a drop in K&N filter. You will get a couple horses from a short ram and a bit more from CAI

Cold Air is perfect of u live in a dry place, if not get a bypass valve, but then why not just get a short ram, i have heard the bypass just sucks in the same warm air u are trying to get aeway from with a cold air in the first place

neither of us have dynographs but i would be willing to bet that the increased airflow caused by the K&N would be enough to make a difference greater than 0.

obviously so but the gains would be so minute it would be hard to say you didnt gain/loose due to say barometric pressure change or climate change, or even engine temperature. even with an aftermarket intake system your only gettin maybee 5 hp. which is why i dont see why people will pay 300$ for an aem which is dyno proven to give 5 hp. wohoo... 300$ for a whaping 5 hp (not a very good turn around to me). mean while you can get the same 5 hp from a 20$ ebizzle generic setup which no one ever sees anyways.

I agree.. this stuff is largely a waste of money to me. (and your car looks more souped up than mine) I would probably be buying headers not a CAI if I was looking to spend that kind of money.

The differences between a CAI and a short ram are probably like 1-2 horsepower. Not enoutgh to make any differecnes speed wise.

its really not much different...that extra 1 or 2 hp gain is from the cold air outside....what if its hot as hell outside.
