Just test drove a CL

i just got home from driving a 98 CL that is for sale in my area. Now ive got some questions that need answered if you guys don't mind. Its in PERFECT condition, body and paint is really nice inside looks brand new and no problems at all (it made me think it was a new car!) the only problem i noticed was at the trunk, it seemed to be higher on the right side, i opened the trunk to find out there was nothing wrong but the bolts on the lid were loose. This got me thinking, the owner says its never been wrecked and only driven on weekends, is this a common problem on a CL with a spoiler or do you think it was wrecked and repaired with little attention to detail putting the trunk lid back on?

any advice on what to look for would b very appricative.............I THINK THIS IS THE CL!!!!!!

Umm, as for the trunk, i havent had that problem with mine. Just give it a day, people will give you their responses. They're all friendly in here.

No loose bolts on my trunk lid.

Try and get a Car Fax report on the car to see if there are any accidents reported.

well the trunk wasn't messed up at all, it was in perfect condition and no scratches or anything. just the bolts were loose, thats y im so confused. I don't have any pics, but the best thing i can say to use for reference is to go out and look at the trunk lid of a CL and just imagine that the blots that hold the accual lid are about a turn and a half loose JUST ON THE RIGHT SIDE. but i think im gonna get it, if the carfax comes back clean im gonna b all over it. Ill post the VIN if someone could run a carfax when he calls me tonight with the VIN.

bring someone who knows what they're looking at!
i'm sure that they'lll make sure the welds are clean, and everything lines up...that'll be the surest way to know if this has been in a major rear accident or not.
good luck on your purchase! i've been superhappy with my 98 2.3!

well Melanie was nice enought to run a Carfax for me (THANK YOU!!) but it came back with 0 records on file (as in none at all on anything). We can't decide if this is a good thing or a bad thing. What do u guys think?

The guy called me back and said he made an error on the VIN number. Turns out it was involved in a accident but it was hit in the front right (i sure couldn't tell when i was looking at it) . I don't know if i should still buy it or not now?

My accord that i was driving had been in a wreck before i bought it and was repaird just fine, but i only payed 4 grand for it........

wats the price on the CL?? man a majority of the cars have been in fender benders and little accidents the only way you can tell its if they report it or not. if it runs good and looks good go for it.

i bought my CL and it had been in TWo wrecks, and has been in two more since..........

just check out the basics, how does the tranny feel and look all around the engine bay.......you know, the expensive stuff.

like i said before, ill come take a look at it and you can compare mine to his and you can drive mine too if ya want to see the diff. in each vehicle, if any.

I just wanna see more 3.0 owners dammit!

Why all this paranoia over accidents? Just get the bodyshop records and they should warranty their work.
