Just smoked my buddies prelude!
My buddy has been bugging me to race everytime I see him so i finally said ok. It's broad daylight and we go to an empty sidestreet and his friend flags us.
my car:98 2.3 E/CAI/H- 5 speed w18"s and 2 12"S
his car:99 lude, you know h22 E/CAI-AUTO (haha) 17"s no subs
Off the line I launched a bit to high and spun for quite a while. Also for some reason I get more wheelhop off the line than anyone i've ever known. As i'm sitting there spinning I'm just thinking, great just blew that one. I finally got some traction at about 5K rpms and to my surprise he wasn't ahead yet. Right when i caught my first gear pulled a car on him, and second put me two cars ahead. By the end of third gear he was slowly coming up on me, but we both braked and it was over. I was pretty happy.
He wanted to go again from a roll, so we did. We went from about forty and my second gear pulled a good car and a half on him. By the end of third he was at my back bumper, but I was so surprised to still be ahead. We brake again and i'm 2 and 0.
We went one more time on the way back to his work (from a roll again) And we raced till about 105 this time. He finally got me, but I was right at his door at the end.
I'm pretty pleased even tho his prelude was an auto. Just happy I can say I beat his h22. :wackit: auto's :wackit:
Anyone else have problems with wheelhop on your launches. (advice) thanks
and i didn't post this in the racing stories because it looks gay next to all the CL-S races vs. gt's and wrx's.

Not that i am saying beating a Prelude auto isnt awesome since there is a 50 hp difference (150-200). But the trans. has alot to do with every thing. I used to have a 90 Honda civic with honda's slowest fuel injected 4cyl ( D15 ) but it was a 5spd. I beat so many people but that was cause i was a shifting maniac. i mean i pulled 3rd gear scratches with the thing.
Back to the point, being able to start 1st gear @ 2500-3000 rpm is the life saver to take off while the prelude only can floor it.
BUT GOOD JOB. THAT IS ONE MORE PRELUDE IN MY BOOK!

Yeah, his shit was like a snail off the line. I was just pretty stoked that I could even keep some ground from a roll.
I've raced my other buddies 5-speed lude before with the same bolt on's as me and it's a hole diff story. It's pretty close untill third then he just walks away.
One thing I will say though is that in a street race, (about 0-60) It's all about the launch. I've had races with my friends bolt on rsx-s, gsr, and spec-v, and actually been ahead till 60. Only because i had a perfect launch and theirs wasn't so great. But then if i race these same cars and I have the bad launch and their launch is good, it's an absolute MURDER! Really strange how this works out.
All i'm saying is that a short race is all about the launch if the car's are within 50hp from each other. Only in a short race though, once you hit third, the faster car will pretty much own you.

Clstyle-I have custom 2.5" piping from MIDAS with a $50 ebay muffler. sounds so money! DC headers from a 99 accord.
monkey-for sure bro! I feel like i own a fucking go kart when I read some of there racing stories. I should start posting there by the end of this summer if I ever stop spending all my money on golf tournaments and bitches, and save enough for some boost.
