Just Got Back From The Track... Im Pretty Dissapointed.

ok heres the bad news crap (my best time first time runnin her at the track)

r/t....364
60'...2.445
330..6.963
1/8..10.525
mph.69.63
1/4 16.237
mph..86.68

my mods are: intake, headers, testpipe (which is what i think robbed me of all my low end so its comming off tomorrow), muffler.

had my 18's on, subs, and full trunk, bout 89 deg w/ ALOT of humidity (just looked it up 87%), everyone was sweatin like a mofo and it was bout 1030 at night. (full tank of cheap 87 octane)

is this what i can expect or is there something wrong with prescious. i know engines, and pretty much how everything is supposed to work, but i am sooo dissapointed with those times. what should i do to help this monstrosity. did the wheels and test pipe and bout 200 lbs of shit in the trunk hurt me that bad? cmmon pimps i need help here. oh yea dont bash me on my snail times.

What hurt you is that you're expecting faster times with a slow car.

On a more constructive note, your times were likely hurt by:

your trunk being full of stuff
you having a full tank of gas
and
the weather

Yep: weight got ya (stereo and full tank), and the weather, heat and humidity will eat your times for lunch.
How much do your wheels weigh compared to stock ?

You car the 2.2, 2.3, 3.0 ?

its impossible to launch at those rpm's.. its an automatic (2400 stall) and i got as good as i could get. but with that test pipe there just isnt that umph at the low rpm's, you cant even hear vtec engate. to where as before the test pipe you could actually feel vtec... dont get me wrong, the pipe works great in high speeds.. infact it gives up a good bit more power.. but i dont think its worth the low end loss. unless your one of those people who race on the freeway, then youll have fun..

18's = ouch - rotational weight = teh lose

full trunk = ouch - car is heavy as it is, the extra weight isn't helping

full gas tank = ouch - when I went tot hte track I did 3 runs almost empty then a 4th with only 1/2 tank, and my last run was the slowest run, the weight can kill ya

test pipe = ouch - our car's have shitty low end, every run at the track, as soon as the light would turn green, regardless of what the other car was, the car woudl pull away pretty fast, but as soon as I hit 4000 rpms it woulnd't be pulling away as fast, one of the chevelles I even started catching up to about 3/4 ways down the strip.

did you brake tq it? did you gate shit? leave in d3? how'd you shift? tire psi? my slower runs were me leaving it in d3, but proper gateshifting brought me down .2 seconds.

I gutted my 2.2 accord and the best time i got out of it at the track was a 16.9. That was no stereo bo front pass seat no back seat less than a 1/4 tank of gass. All i had was intake and full exhaust without header. but that was also a stick ex and 17" rims. My reaction time was a .27.

Common man, it's a slow car, you have to know this being 28. It's a cruising car, not a 1/4 mile car. You want fast and luxurious and coupe. Get a G35c.

CL3.0 is more for crusing down the boulevard on a Sunday afternoon.

I live in Tampa too bro, and the heat and humidity definitely take a toll on our times. I'm from Buffalo where its much cooler and generally dry, and there was a huge difference in how my car felt up there. Take the car back to the track in January when it's 65 and dry outside. Or just learn how to shift!! j/k Keep us posted on your times!

Wow, a 16.237 and you've slowly pulled on a RSX type S.
Heh,
Anyways, I don't believe 3.0's can get into the mid 15's. I've actually
never heard of any 3.0 owner post a 15 sec. 1/4 mile time.
Lets face the facts, CL's are slow. Why bother to go to the track?
Did you expect high 14's?
Nonetheless, good try.

BTW - I'm not bashing you, just letting out the truth.

Not even close, rsx type-s runs 14.8 1/4, so you would be about 8 car lenghts behind a rsx type-s.

I think a 3.0 could do mid 15's with a lot of engine work...Thats why i like the 2.3. I can get a ported and polished head new cams and a new tb for like 1600 and they say thats good for 50 hp. Thats what im going for. i just want a little more umph

Ways to make your cl faster:
Concentrate on torque, not HP

Bigger injectors, new fuel pump, Apexi VFAC 2 (Vtec Controller/Air-Fuel COntroller), FI, Short Ram Intake and in your case, LOTS OF WIEGHT Reduction.

Stip your car down to a 3000 lb Razor blade and get a 12lb Sparco Seat, see what you do then =)

There have been plenty of 3.0s that have run 15s with no nitrous.

with the right mods right tires a good launch and moderate sea level mid to low 15's is very obtainable.

seriously though. I died a little inside after you said you couldnt break 15s. However, i realized it was probably cause of the test pipe and all that poop in your trunk. I mean, crap - if your 3.0 cant do it - how can I expect my 2.2 to?

Wilp99, it's the junk in the trunk and all that gas... Man, you know as well as any pilot or jet tech that weight is everything... Take a load off Precious and she'll treat you right. And yeah, that test pipe is kind of a waste unless you plan to do a lot of freeway rolling races. And hell, you might have caught the RSX-s without some of the weight you are carying. Good luck bro... you'll get to high 14s, low 15s if you want to... Just remember... lighten that bitch up and you'll go fast.
