J32A2 with 6 Speed Swap

J32A2 with 6 Speed Swap
Okay, I finally found the J32A2 with the 6speed for sale. Took me forever. Now, aside from the motor/tranny, what else would be needed to get this to work, and how much for those parts?
Also, does anyone know of any shops that you can HIGHLY recommend on doing a swap they have never done before. I really want to see if this swap would be worth it, but just trying to do my homework before I buy this motor/tranny.
Does anyone think it can ALL be done for 5 grand? If so, then I'm down to do this right now.

5 grand for installation and the parts> or what exactly....do you mean by ALL>...as in install and parts? i thought it was more around 7-8k from what ive been seeing

Yea, install and parts. Is 7-8k what I should expect? If so, then I'd have to actually think if it'd be worth it for me. But it's either that, or get rid of my car, and then have to pay monthly payments on higher insurance, and car payments, which I really don't want.

As for the tranny, do trannies usually come with the clutch pedal, shift linkage, shifter?

IF it's 3500 just for the motor, it's definitely not worth dealing with him. keep looking. Now the the new accords also have a 240 HP J-Block with a 6speed tranny, there seems to be more options then just the J32 from the CL type S. Also as time goes on, the CL type S motor/trannies should be popping alittle more frequently.
Also, you should decide what your goal on power is. If you want upwards of 230 or so at the wheels you are going to have to go the forced induction route eventually. In that case you might be better served by just getting a non Type S J32 motor off of EBay. Besides the lower compression ratio which is good for forced induction, it'll also cost several hundred less.

You'll need the following...to get you STARTED
engine management computer
transmission
flywheel
complete shifter assembly
clutch package
clutch master
clutch slave
clutch hydraulic lines
pedal assembly
emergency brake assembly and cables
engine mounts
engine shock
subframe
axles and stub axle
intake plumbing
catalyst forward exhaust or Comptech header assembly
center console assembly and related minor components
money to make changes to the wiring harness as needed
time and money to troubleshoot
Doing a 5AT to 6MT in a Type-S will set you back in the neighborhood of $7k-10k. Doing a J32 + 6MT swap into a first gen will most definitely cost more than that.

Also I don't know how high the 1st gen tach goes, but you'll need a tach that goes to about 8k (redline for the J32 is about 7200 rpm.
I also doubt the J32 headers will bolt to the 1st gen exhaust so you'd need a completely custom downpipe back through the mufflers exhaust

I don't really think these parts would be needed though. Any other opinions as to whether these parts would be NEEDED to do the swap?

Totally different. An '01 Accord shares many things with the 2nd Gen CL

I have the OBX headers and downpipe, that should do it, right?

If you don't think these would be needed you won't be able to complete the swap. How is your intake going to bolt up to the J32
You'll also need custom work done to the center console to get the shifter to mount up correctly, your headers will not bolt up to the J32

I'll try and find him, thanks. 5k would be perfect for me, I'd pay that happily. It would leave me with enough money to do the other stuff planned.

Throttle body dont come with the motor? And I thought the J32 and J30 heads were the same. People have bought the comtech headers from J32's before, so I thought.

You will also need a machine shop to custom fabricate clutch pedal mounts for your car. Do you even know the dimensions of the 6MT vs your current 4AT? Will the 6MT even fit?

I believe the Type-S heads are different, although this is something i'd need to research.

The intakes for the automatic and the 6 speed are always different. Do you know which J32 your intake was designed for?

Suppose to be a direct fit from what I have read. I know a current member off of v6.net did the swap, but instead of the whole motor, he just bought the tranny and did it all for about 3k, and plus the cost of a stand alone. I figured I might as well get the motor too.

I'm sure the swap is possible, with the right amount of money.
Doing a 5AT to 6MT swap in a Type-S has been estimated at $7-10k.
Doing a complete motor and transmission (automatic to manual) swap in a 1st gen will most definitely cost more than that.
Plus, will it ever run right? If you need a shop to do the swap (you can't do it yourself) this means you'll need that shop to look at the car every time something isn't working correctly. Its going to add up to well over the 5-figure mark once all is said and done.

Do you currently have a 3.0? Or a 2.2 or 2.3? with the manual tranny?
