This is to correct an earlier post about the (J30A) 3.0 engines.


After much feedback from the guys over at www.v6performance.net/ the consensus is that there are only 2 US-spec J30A motors.

J30A1 = 1997 - 2002 Honda built motors (e.g.: '97 - '99 3.0CL, '98 - '02 Honda Accord V6)

J30A4 = 2003 Honda built motors (e.g.: Honda Accord V6)

so you could get a 2002 version of the whole engine and throw it in a 99 cl 3.0?

I still want to know what's diff btwn the J30a4 then and our engines.

I gathered from the article that our engines do use the VTEC-E cams? Did I read that right? What kinda gains/differences can be made in the low end from keeping one set of intake valves closed?

Apparently, it will bolt up, but there will be ecu issues.

so rick, how do you figure yours is a j30a2? if they only make a1 and a4? is it a jdm spec engine?
