I've never leaned on a forum like I have on you guys this month ... starter?

got that fresh f22 in my dad's garage, just waiting for a helper with a few days to put it in ...

sudden CLICKA CLICKA CLICKA today, push/jump-starts ok

battery died once while parked

bought a starter, bought a battery, backed it up my driveway when I got home tonight (battery + starter + receipts in my front seat) and it started like 4 times just fine

starter? battery? both? Neither? ARGH!!!!

sounds like the starter, when mine went, it was just part of the starter that was bad, so it wouldn't start when I hit that part of the gear, but the rest of the time it was fine. Sounds like the starter for sure bro

oh and if the car starts fine after u replace the battery n cable, that was the culprit obviously. but it sounds a lot like the starter issue that I had on my f23

When my starter died, i had to flick the key forward like 10-15 times and then hold it and it would start right up, it was weird. I did that until I got a new starter the next day... keep in mind my starter died on me while driving to the beach an hour away, it was awesome.

Gnate didn't you know starters are engineered to only die when you're far from home?

When you turn the key, can you hear the solenoid engaging the starter? It should sound like a single click. If you don't, try tapping the starter with a hammer or ratchet. The metal connections wear out and you can usually keep the faulty one a while longer by smacking it with something hard.

If you're hearing a fast clicking sound when you turn the key, then you have a bad battery or your alternator isn't charging the battery. You said you can jump start it, so I'm thinking it's the battery.

Glad you got the problem fixed. If the symptoms do come back though I would check the ignition switch which is located on the underside of the steering wheel. Symptoms of a faulty ignition switch (honda/accura has a recall) would be similar to a starter only no click. Absolutely nothing. Sometimes a new battery masks the problems. I have gone thru all this. Good luck.
