intake and exhaust?
Hey there all,
Hows it goin? Gotta couple of questions for ya all... I was contemplating doing an intake and exhaust on my 1997 3.0. Price doesnt really matter... but here are the requirments
1. Must bolt straight on so I dont have to butcher my baby
2. Sounds good... not like a .... Honda? Lol. I dont want that cheezy nasty fart pipe noise... my car is smooth and I want it to stay that way. I know the intakes are generally loud... I can deal with that.
3. NO GIANT STUPID EXHAUST TIPS
In other ways... keep my car as close to stock sounding as possible and keep from turning it into some 16 year old dumb ass hey look at me I just got my liscence I need to make noise car. What are some other things I might do to my car to make it quicker. I dont wanna do a H-22 or NOS cuz... I dont. LOL. Thanks in advance to all who respond.

Re: intake and exhaust?
As far as I know there is no "bolt on" exhaust for the 3.0, I just bought a magnaflow muffler and just replaced the O.E.M. muffler, because the 3.0 already had 2.5" pipe.
For intake you can get an AEM intake for a 98-02 Accord V6 which should fit. or you could go all out and get a Comptech Icebox for $200
If you want to keep it stock as possible whats the point in getting exhaust? All I am saying is that it is going to be hard to keep it quiet as stock
Next time do a search it will save you a little bit of some time and some times people get pissed when you ask questions that have been asked 1,000,000 times.

Intake should be your first mod!
For exhaust, I just went from the apex'i to the Greddy SP and the SP sounds :tits: Nice and deep and not ricey. But it's got a price tag.

Your not gonna get more power from just intake and exhaust. I'd go with a aem cai, obx headers for 98-02 accordv6, and a greddy sp catback of course customized for the CL. Besides under drive pulley's thats the majority of bolt on's

First, if you want more power from your exhaust you will have to accept a little more rumble. Secound a 98 -02 OBX header will not fit the 1st gen without modification.
Price being no problem you should go with the Comtech icebox and Headers. You may want to consider a free flow CAT and a good replacment muffler for the stock one. Ractive makes one that looks close to stock (twin up swept tips). Magnaflow might be quiter.
Incidently I'm a little over 16 and I like the sound of an unrestricked engine.
Also the tail pipe of the 1st gen looks like its 2.5 but it actualy is a 2". There is a pipe inside the outer pipe. It is truly a resignator that runs the from the CAT to the muffler.
Hope this helps.

Oh yea, and you will pick up about a 15% power increase with the intake and exhaust mods I suggested. 30HP, + or - 5HP.
About 190 at the wheels.
Plan on spending $1,500 to $2000.00

Not trying to be a smart ass butt I just recently got my exhaust done, and the guy at the muffler shop said that the piping was 2.25" stainless alloy, he might have been wrong, just my two cents.

I measured the exhaust piping out to 2.25". The problem is that it's crush-bent, so the effective diameter is reduced to ~1.5" at the angles.
Headers and exhaust go hand-in-hand. You should be able to pick up 25whp from the pair.
Take a look at the AEM V2. It has almost 10hp gain over the standard CAI at one point, as it eliminates a hole the standard CAI has. 5whp peak here, 9tq tho.
UR crank pulley can give you 5+whp, but do not consider it if you plan to have a high current draw (stereo, etc).
Changing the plugs on the car can revieve some lost power. Adding some ignition mods can give you some gains.
You should be able to pull 195-200whp and 175tq with one or the other of the last two.

UR has a standard size crank pully that is 9lbs lighter and will not effect your alternator.
