I'd say that's not too bad. 16 w/nice car = high insurance. I guess it also depends on what your deductible is. One way to lower it is to have your parents add you to their policy. Or list them as the primary driver of that car and put you as the primary on the cheapest car in the house. Not sure what the rates are on the Gen1's, but I'm 27 and I pay $150 for a CL-S w/$500 dedectable (actually that is a CL-S and a 93 Ford Ranger, and I got a ticket and no fault accident). I think the CL-S alone would be about $130. Best advice I can give you is: AVOID GETTING TIX!!!

Everyone hates insurance, until they need it. Nothing to do but get used to it. Soon you'll have to pay for Health Ins. Then comes renters ins, then home ins.......Basically the more stuff you get the more ins you need. It does suck, but like I said when you need it you'll be glad you have it......then they list you as a risk, even if it's not your fault, and raise your ins. It's basically legal racketteering.

good drivers should check out americanexpress.com. they are usually cheaper than most other insurers. also try insurance.com where they give you quotes from several companies.

i pay 500 for six months w/ 100k/300k/100k liability 5k medical, 250 and 500 dollar deductible with americanexpress.com

You guys don't have to pay that much. When i was 21 i bought a brand new Toyota MR2 turbo in California. My insurance was like 300 a month and the car payment was like 550 with ZERO points. I was always complaining until i totalled it and insurance bought me my next car

at 16 years old they are allowed to rape you on insurance cause you do a lot of stupid shit ( which I did when I was younger). I still pay $150/month and I'm 23 with a clean record. So, $200 is a steal. Of course I also live in midtown Atlanta, so that is most of the reason I get but raped on insurance.

I just turned 25 and what a break, I save about $400 a year now.

Ins. premiums depend more on your age and where you live. Most companies have about the same rates on the same types of cars. Where they differ is how much of the cost is related to your age and location.

So basically, move to Montana when your older and your rates should go down a lot.

In Illinois I was paying close to $3000 a year when I first go the car and then I transfered my insurance out of state to Iowa where I go to school and it dropped immediately to a little less than $1500 a year and now it is finally down to around $800 a year (still insured in Iowa) I dont actually live in Iowa and im not a resident but for some reason they let me change insurance out there. Good deal for me. Those rates are with one accident where I took my old explorer and ran over a Hyundi

Its all about your age, not theft rate, I just hit 21 last October, and my insurance is so cheap. When I had my slowass 82 oldsmobile cutlass sierra (in 1997) the insurance was 225 a month. And I couldnt break 75 in that thing. Theft doesn't have much to do with it either. Younger people like yourselves are still learning to drive, yeah Im sure you know how to but your gonna have some situations come up that you'll learn from like what to do and what not do, when you enter a turn to fast and do a three-sixty into the opposite lane of traffic. Youll never do that again afterwards. Also being younger your more likely to modify your car in some way that lowers its safety and reliability which increases your risk of being in an accident.
Thats what its about insurance companies loose money on kids and the elderly. They make money off 21-60 year olds.
After age is considered then car is considered like how fast does it go. Insurance for a car with a top speed of 90 is going to be a lot less than a car with a top speed of 240

you're in the 'danger age' + you've got a powerful car (most teens drive civics, cavaliers, and kias), so expect insurance to jack you for another few years.

Once you've had the car for a year with no tickets and claims, you can use the '4cars-1family' to get your rate lowered. I know some people in the insurance industry and its crazy how much they will assess you based on your family's driving, so make sure the other 3 cars have no claims/low tickets before you start talking. If the other cars have been on this policy for a long time, you can talk discounts. You can threaten to move all 4 cars to another provider. Also, a GPA of 4.0 goes a LONG way

Until then, just sit back and take the hit, I know I am and I'm 22.

$100 a month, Im on my mothers insurance still though and even though she gets four or five tickets a year she always pays a lawyer to get them dropped. I personally have some parking tickets, no speedingt tickets, no collisions that were my fault (Ive been hit badly twice while parked in a parking lot).

However More importantly though
I wrecked a State Trooper when I was 16, I was coming home from a soccer game and it was late. I was in my 15yr old 82 Oldsmobile cutlass sierra which looked like it was painted camoflouge grey since so many layers of the original paint and primer were comming of, it looked really ghetto. I was doing 70 in a 15, I live by a golf course hence the 15 so he thought I was up to no good and didnt fit in with the wealthy people so he went after me. Well he gave chase and I just thought he was some drunk redneck who was gonna fuck with me, but I got onto my dirt road first (not even a half mile away)which is National Park land which is kind of a jurisdiction nightmare because park rangers have jurisdiction, then sherrifs, then state police. Anyway he never turned his siren or lights on but instead turned his brights on and road my ass, but because of the dust I was creating from 65+ on a dirt road (it puts up about a 10 ft wall of dust, sort of like the rooster tail from a jet ski but dirt instead of water) he couldnt see and had to drop back well going into a turn I didnt hit my breaks so there were no break lights but, instead I chose to slide through the turn because I new the road so well, well he found out to late and slid into a rock outcropping. I saw this and definently heard it. I laughed and thought the damn drunk redneck deserved it and went home to call a wrecker and the sheriff well. Im calling the sheriff and here comes a crown vic with a fucked up rear and lights flashing at 1 in the morning in the middle of no where (I have no permanent neighbors within a half mile. He was mad and couldnt do aything, but he pulled me every chance he got. He also got me with a loaded pistol in my in dash casette holder in my 87 integra after I hit a dog and went to put it our of its misery (yeah its cold but I ran over a two and a half foot dog with an integra 3 inches of the ground that dog was wasted) He let me off after we went for a ride with me in the back to show him the dog, he did the honors and wrote me a warning ticket.

You get butt-raped in Midtown Atlanta ?:ghey:
I just renewed with Geico, I'm at $130 a month at 24 yrs old. They told me since my rate is really low for where I live, that my insurance probably won't go down when I turn 25...so I might have to look somewhere else. Oh yeah, I'm in Midtown Atlanta too

that sounds too high for your age. When I was 16-17 I was driving a nissan 300zx and a subabru svx(232 hp) and I was only paying $1600-$1700

It was a bad fucking car, I still miss it to this day. That car was pretty damn quick, faster than the z and my cl. I had it up to 149 mph on a straight flat road, no hills-couldnt hit that 150 barrier though. The only reason I got rid of it was it kept going through trannys. I blew one out in the first month that I had it. Then about 8 months later the other one started going out so I traded it in. They just used the tranny out of a legacy and it wasnt strong enough. I guess it didnt help either that I was beating it into the ground everyday

I think that was the most underated sports car ever. As a favor to my girlfriend Ive been rebuilding her old XT GT Subaru so she can sell it, and thats a quick little car for 1.8 liter coming out in 1987, it definantly would have kicked my 87 LS Integra's ass, anyway we were looking for an SVX to get her but we ended up getting an Imprezza instead since people are refusing to sell them. Unfortunately shes a Subaru nut like Im an Acura nut

Damn some of those insurance rates sounds like horror stories. I'm 18 and i'm paying about 150 a month with my 2.3 and I though I was getting fucked. It will drop to about 122 in March when my accident come off my record. O yeah i'm in the military so that helps a lot.
