Improved performance with OBX Headers

Hit the track this weekend and here or my results.

Before Headers= 16.2/84mph
After Headers = 15.6/89mph

Has everyone else experianced the same gains from headers. Mine are OBX.

Looks like a good gain, but I think your car should be faster overall. Did you prep or the track? 300lbs stereo in da trunk?

Or do you have the 2.2/2.3?

I think he has a 2.2/2.3.

Look at his traps. I trapped at 90 w/o headers on a SLOW track.

Different circumstances due to different days of tracking. Perhaps better driving...Cooler climate...Better track prep...etc.

true, but a half second is a BIG difference for just weather and such.

Rick added headers but ran slower times if you remember. What was it? Like a 14.1 WITHOUT headers...and a 14.6 WITH headers? Something like that.

I ran faster times with headers. 14.05 w/ headers and a 75-shot, and a 14.4 or 14.3 without headers and a 75-shot (both run in Oct and Nov of '02).

The 14.7 I ran this past July was on a very hot day.

However, when comparing similar weather and track conditions (which was last year), I ran about .3 to .4 seconds faster with headers.

BTW: My trap speeds are between 95 and 100 mph.

Bluesman: Congrats!

Yea, Its a 3.0. I don't know the exact temp and Humidity for the run with out headers but it was in March so it was prolly cooler. the run with the headers was 68F @ 61%.

Between these runs I also put in a high flow CAT.

So it was a 3.0. Strange...I'm making those traps without headers.

I was too, that's where the track factor comes into effect

I have been running 15.8 with just an intake, but now that I have headers, exhuaust and other stuff, I am expecting low 15's - like around 15.2-15.3 times.

Nice ass gains though, I hope to get similar gains when I run my CL.

Car and Driver clocked 99cl 3.0 at 16.4 @ 87mph. I clocked, with an intake, 16.2 @ 84.4mph. When you guys ran trap speeds of 90 mph what was your ET. Some times, as your time goes down you'r speed does to.

Good luck on on that install. Be sure and check your clearance between the down pipe and the brase running next to it.

Ive come to the conclusion, once you gain a certain amount of horsepower with boltons- its pretty hard to get past that point without forced induction. Which is the reason I am selling my cl and aiming for a 97-98 240.
