Idle Control System

sup everyone, my car has been idling weird, rpm going up and down from 1100rpm to 2100rpm every so often in park or neutral and my transmission is shifting abnormally when i am not hitting the gas pedal and especially when coming to a stop below 25mph, car jolts back n forth real quick, i took it to autozone. Code is P0505 "THE PCM HAS DETERMINED THAT A MALFUNCTION EXISTS IN THE IDLE CONTROL SYSTEM". So is it the IACV for sure? How much should I expect when replacing this with labor, I am taking it to a mechanic and wanna make sure he doesn't rip me off. Thanks everyone!!! This forum is the best and everyone is very responsive, thanks for helping us noobs!!!!

I don't know how much the part is but you should do it yourself...it's easy a few bolts and a couple of hose clamps.

go here.. www.helminc.com and get the acura cl service manual supplemnt.. its like 35$ but it will save you tons of money, you just cant be afraid to do things your self.. like this damn sensor.. acura is gonna charge you atleast 1.5 hours of labor. at 70$ an hour so your already lookin at 105$ just for the labor.. plus the price of the part.. 73.90$ and you lookin at 200$ right there.. if you buy the part and the book (which you only have to buy once.) your already savin bout 100$. plus when ever you have another problem w/ your acura you can just look at the book and fix it yourself for 1/4 the cost of the dealer. or mechanic shop.

i'm still new to this mechanic thing, i just don't wanna fuck anything up, i never even did a oil change before by myself, thats why i joined this forum to learn, eventually i think i will start doing things on my own but replacing the iacv is a little too difficult for me yet, i am going to start by learning how to change the oil first...

hey everyone, i took my car to acura, it was the iacv, they charged me 100 dollars for the part and 75 labor which wasn't too bad, i also got the tranny flushed/coolant flush/new brake fluid/regular oil change and an inspection. The guy took off 70 bucks since i was a first time cx, the total bill was 400 dollars...not bad considering everything i got done, took about 3 1/2 hrs, the jolting when i came to a stop was because my motor mount is cracked, i have to take it back in a couple of weeks, they have to order the part, hopefully my warranty is going to cover the iacv and motor mount, i'll give u guys an update soon, check back...
