I replaced the thermostat now car is not running right…
Over the holiday I replaced the thermostat in my ’98 2.3 CL with 205K miles on it. I was having some funky coolant / heat issues and figured that was a good thing to swap out.
As you know to get access to the thermo housing the intake had to come out and a few sensors near the throttle body have to be un-plugged. I button everything up and start the car and now it runs ROUGH. VERY rough like a cylinder is not firing. It would hold an Idle and when rev-ed to 2 or 3k it does it with hesitation and roughness while at 2-3K.
My 1st thought was I forgot to plug something back in. But I even removed the intake to make sure. My other thought is I could have banged on something where the sparkplug wires go into the distributor. But I unplugged and plugged everything back in…
The car ran fine before I got my hands in there and it’s NEVER acted this way before. What should I be looking for???? BTW, the check engine light is NOT on…
Thanks guys!
