My friend has a 97 accord EX.. has roughly 10k miles less than my motor... We have the EXACT setup!! Literally!! I did his car for him :P.. We both have auto and I still pull on him every time!! At first i thought itz because of my stripped rear interior... but tonight i put back everything... we ran 4 times from complete stop and I still manage to stay alittle ahead!! I don't get it... does some motor just has more power than other exact same motor???

 

There are many things that could affect a run. Everything from the driver's weight, tires, rims, tranny, sound system, the lane, etc.

 

I think our ECU is more aggressive maybe? Different timing.

 

also mass produced dont always have equal powers from the factory

 

the cl has more top end power than the accord

 

thats funny, because a while ago when i just had a cheap ebay muffler with custom piping, and a cheap short ram intake, and i raced my friend's 98 accord. Both 5 speed, and almost exact miles, only he had AEM cai, greddy evo catback, and dc ceramic headers. We even both had stock 16" wheels. We raced 5 times. I smoked him by 2-4 cars every time. His closest run, we were dead even off the line, and halfway through second, then all the sudden I just started pulling. It was the funniest thing, but I felt kinda bad for him. Too bad accords and civics are about the only thing i can pull on in 3rd gear!

 

well i agree, my CL picks up much better than my accord did...and is it just me or does it seem easier to speed in our cars?

maybe that's just me though:P

The trannies, engines, and ecus are the same.

No F22b1 Accord has any more or less power than a f22b1 CL with the same setup.

However, weight, driver, and engine condition have a huge factor in all of this.

Do a compression check on his F22b1 then compare it to yours.

High mileage on a plugged cat could cause a degredation in one or the other.

Please do not think that the CL is more powerful than the Accord. I have probably more Accord parts on my engine now than Acura parts.....they are the same engine, tranny, ecu, programming, axles, everything.

 

any mass produced engine can have plus or minus 5 horsepower....

 

I take it this is the one you got?

They are the same. I realize they will vary but there is more to this difference stated above than the given range of hp from the factory.
