How much for paint jobs?

How much for paint jobs?
I'm considering painting my car, but I don't really know what price I'm looking at. Maaco is the only company on my mind right now, and all they have is a junky chart that gives absolutely no information. In addition, I have something other than a single normal color in mind. My car is currently normal silver, and I want to go to this, with possibly a black stripe.
Any idea on a price? I'm going to try and call the autoshops in my area as soon as possible, but not if this is totally expensive.

That isn't the exact orange I want, but you get the picture. Thanks for your input guys.

400-500? Are YOU serious? If it were that cheap, a lot of people would have new paint jobs. I dont have any other suggestions since I would never put a stripe or anything across my car. Why dont you search on here and maybe you can get some answers youre looking for.

I was under the impression that the stripe was just a decal applied under the clear coat. How much can a huge sticker cost anyway? What if I just junked the stripe and painted it orange? How much would a quality orange coat cost?

Im not trying to hate, but whats up with the stripe/decal/sticker whatever you want to call it? The stripe can be anything. Paint, decal...ANy paint job is a couple of grand, nuff said.
Why "quality orange"? Why not just orange?

Well, okay thanks for your input. For some reason I thought paint jobs were usually sub 500. Guess not. At least this saves me the trouble of searching for a price now. Thanks for the help. Any other ideas on how to blow 500 for this car?

Search around. I found a local guy that recently did a SHOW CAR quality paint job on my 240sx that I just sold all for $1100. That was a complete strip, primer, fixed one large dent, crack in bumper, installed and fitted side skirts, filled trunk holes, filled hood emblem and did a color changing paint job. Do your homework and wait, this guy is amazing and his work doesnt compare to anyone and for $1100, it was worth the one month wait.

I have several estimates to repaint just the rear bumper for right around $500. So 2k or 3k to repaint everything would make sense.
Everyone seems to know someone that went the MAACO way and hated the outcome...

Maaco is for people with clunkers.... If i had a piece with some rust, i'd do most of the work my self and pay 400-500 on a paint job, def. would look better.
But were driving nicer cars, so a carp paint job will never help the apperence on a car.
I had an ss camaro, got a new hood and that cost me about 400. So a good paint job from a GOOD collision shop is the way to do it, thats just my 2cents.
Oh by the way, i currently have my cl in the shop removing all the dents and ding, bought a majority of all the parts(hood, fenders, door skin,ect...) and just the work and paint job is costing me $2850....

Are you getting new parts because you got in an accident?
I'm getting my car painted real soon myself. I have dings all over and the paint on my front bumper is all cracked up. Luckly, my car is black, so it doesn't look too bad.

I had my car repainted last March, previous owner kept it great and all, except forgetting to wax it, so it just got dull, cost me almost 2k but every cent well spent. few days ago someone left me with a nice gift and ddecided to park their car/suv/truck on top of my hood, well it's dented here and there and needs to be replaced, but the paint didn't crack, and there is not a single scratch!! wish the hood was fixable lol. so just shows they did a great job and stood to their word. Am just hoping the place I'm taking it to have the work done will be able to match the paint, since it's custom midnight dark blue. Def don't get cheap on paint, it's like my girlfriend says about make-up, you buy it cheap, you look cheap :-)

ahem. :winkwink: I know of a certain CL thats for sale, with great paint. It'll still be cheaper to do a 5spd swap than get a paint job. Just FYI of course

ya bought a lot of new parts, coming to around $1500. I did not think it would come to that much, but my collision guy kept saying i need this and that. So I am thinking it would have been better to have probably sold the car like it was.
I got into an accident dent about 2 1/2 years ago, had full coverage and everything. But I was stupid and didn't fix my car. I went ahead and leased a Z4.... it was fun, but now i am stuck paying extra for the car that the insurance company didn't give me enough...

I got a maaco paint job on my first car and it was about $600. It was one of their "top of the line" and it had drip marks. Looked good from a distance but I was not happy. I was damn shiny.
If I were you I would definately get a sticker for that stripe instead of paint. this way when you figure out you don't like it you can take it off and you only sent $100. My boy had a side splash on his integra. Looked hot when he first got it but shit like that tends to get old quick. Also when you try to sell your car you will definately have narrowed down the amount of buyer who would consider your car. These cars appeal to a wide range of people but with that splash you'll be looking to sell your car to some younger kid who has less money

There is no way I would paint my car white, from Black. If I was ever to change the color I would want under the hood, the door jams and even the trunk to match the color. My car is black so I'm just keeping the same color, it's easier to get it washed everyday if I wanted to.
