i'd say it would be neck to neck....
but then again... the accord coupe is a bit heavier.
not much.... 3283 lbs vs. 3215 lbs

i'd like to know which would win also?

why do you think the accord will win? I've driven some v6 coupes, and they seem to be a little less torquer in acceleration then ours, but i mean in the long run it'll be whoever starts gasing first

2001 Accord had the same 200 HP 3.0 as the '98 3.0CL.

I'd say it's a driver's race (with the slight advantage going to the CL--it's lighter).

agreed, it comes down to whoever slams on the gas pedal first, i've raced a v6 accord too, i beat him by nearly a fender on a two block stretch, but from what i saw it seems like i just gas'ed harder and earlier then the accord

I would think that even though both cars have the same horsepower, the Accord would win. Simply because the engine is newer and runs a little better. But I guess it can also come down to whoever slams on the gas. Thats just my 2 cent.

Ooops, I just saw the "2001" part, I was thinkin of the 03. Yeah, the CL should win against a 2001 Accord....

3 things:
1. Our car IS lighter
2. Drivers throttle response
3. No one mentioned the octane grade of gas, that can add a few deciding horses!

Higher octane does not equate to more power....

We're talking about the 01 accords, the one with the SAME engine as ours, the 3.0 v6, not the new 6-speed v6

It has been proven that higher octance can add horsepower to an engine. That is why octane booster additives like the one that NOS makes are actually around, not Nitrous Oxide, the pour in gas additive. Check it out, also the amount of gas in the tank. A full tank of gas compared to a 1/8 can shave almost .5 a sec off the quarter mile. Research it for proof.

Higher Octane gas will make no difference in a 6 cylinder Honda engine. In fact it may do the opposite. I have a 99 CL and a 91 Corvette. The corvette has a much higher compression engine and as such needs higher octane gas. Higher octane gas is harder to detonate. In a regular or lower compression engine ( ALL 1st gen CL's) Higer octane gas will have either a neutral or negative effect. I hate paying extra for premium in my vette but i have to or else it will run like crap. Putting premium in my CL is like flushing money down the toilet. I love both cars but the CL gets 87 and the vette gets 93, i wish they had 91 in RI and i would use that. I can't go lower than 91 though.

Im pretty sure the 3.0 would win first off it has better gearing ratios, its lighter, it also has a limited slip differential and im pretty sure that the accords dont have them. Thens there is the fact that ours was desinged to be a luxury sports coupe. and the accord is a family sedan. Not to knock on accords their getting to where they need to be. Also my my mother owns a 2000 2.3l accord 5 speed and my 2.3 Cl is a shit load faster and again it has the same engine the F23A

the reason your car runs better on lower octane is because our engines are designed to run on lower octane...the higher octane does not get burned properly....
