High Intensity Discharge lighting kit. Its the type of system on new Mercedes, Acura's and other luxury cars. It consists of 2 ballasts and 2 capsules (bulbs) in these kits the bulbs are fit to the origional headlight housing. HID bulbs have a different base than a typical 9006, 9005, etc. bulb so these kits are made specifically with a special adapter on the bulb base. The kits are also "plug and play" so you dont have to change anything in the car, just pop the bulbs in and plug the ballast into the factory headlight plug. These systems offer much greater visibility at night. No halogen bulb even comes close to comparing.
