Hesitation and shuttering- loss of accelleration
I have a '98 2.3 with 74k miles. I have never had the car tuned up (I replaced spark plugs last year). Since then, I have had installed a performance cat-back exhaust, full CAI. The check engine light came up on as soon as I installed the exhaust- o2 sensor probably b/c of loss of back pressure.
During this cold winter up in Boston, the car has begun shuttering under accelleration and seems to have lost a lot of power- it hesitates at 3k RPM's and at 2K RPM's...
What do you guys think is the problem?

ERG clogged? is that what it is called the ERG valvue? or is it another 3 letters. maybe you need to clean your air filter, or something with your fuel pump?? I actually have no idea but those things make sense.

check distributor cap, rotor, and wires. then plugs, and fuel filter. but its mostlikley the dist cap or the wires could have a spark leak in them near the plugs, on the black nylar post. should look like little grey specks, where the spark is coming out ull know it when u see it.

Hey i have the same problem when i accelerate when the engine is cold around 2500 rpm?
is it just a little hesitation or is your car constantly like this? I get this all the time it goes away after a minute but it only happens when my car is cold.
