Help on wiring fog lights! SOS...
I bought a pair of universal fog lights for my car. it came with all wiring, switch, and fog lights. I was able to wire everything and it is functional. I just wanted to know if there is any way to connect these fog lights to my switch at the steering wheel so it would come on simultaneously when low beam is turned on. BTW, i connected the wire to the positive terminal of the battery because i cannot find the fuse box. right now, i control the power from a rocker switch that i could barely reach beneath my steering wheel. thanks in advance. \

i think the might be . . .when i wired mine, i put the switch on the right side of the auto shifter, in the spot whre there is a plastic cap(opposite side of seat warmers switch) and there was some kinda connector there, nothing connected to it . . .but it was there under the cap. Don't know if thats for the stock fog lights, or not. Or maybe, just maybe, its the OEM connector for the FLUX CAPACITOR. . . you never know with cars from America.

I am planning to install fog lights on my 98cl as well. What I plan to do is install a relay and get a direct feed from the battery this will give the fog lamp the right quantity of juice to fire them at their full potential. And then operate the relay switch by tapping into the wire for the side marker light. This will do 2 things for you. One when you just want the Fog lamps to go on then all you have to do is flick the switch on for the side marker lamps at the controls on the steering wheel, you will have the side marker lights on the brake dimmer lights on and the fog lights on. And Second if you want the low beam and the fog lamp on then just turn the switch to low beam. This will keep the low beam Plus the fog light fired up at the same time. I guess this would be a wise and pretty simple solution to wire a set of Fog lamps. I might be worng but this is the way I plan to do mine. Also to wire the relay it is pretty simple there are simple wiring diagrams avaliable online.
What the relay switch does is it uses the small amount of current from the side marker lamps to trip the relay switch to start drawing current straight from the battery with out any drop in voltage and provide maximum juice to the fog lamps. There is generally around 2-3 volts of drop in the voltage when you try to draw the feed from any part of the wiring harness due do the resistence in the entire lengthg of the wires in the harness.
Hope this helps...I am just waiting for my Fog lamps to arrive and then will dig into the installation task.

thanks for the replies. I believe the 97 isnt prewired for fogs becoz i didnt see any fuse for fogs in the fuse box. jfkhan, that is probably what i want to do... The reason why i want to connect it to the switch at the steering wheel is becoz i always forget to turn it off, unlike if it is connected to the switch and it is on, it will make a beeping sound. I know how to read a wiring diagram but i just dont understand how these stuff works. Get back to us jfkhan once youve done yours so i can rewire mine. thanks
