HELP needed. Car idle is crazy high.

So i went to go put on my valve cover today. I pulled the spark wires off, the tube that goes to my intake, the tube connected to the throttle body, and the small ground wire on the bottom right. Got a new rubber gasket and put that in as well. Put everything back on and then when I went to start the car...my idle was crazy high, at 2k rpm.

So i shut it off, checked everything, and started it up again, same thing. So i pulled the ecu, backup fuse and disconnected the batt to reset the ecu.

Went to fire it up again and it was still idleing at 2k rpm. I decided to go for a little drive but my rpms would just climb when I drove, I got like 2 feet and my car was just getting louder. I put it in neutral and my rpms were hitting 3k! So i said fuck it, and backed up into my garage.

No check engine light, nothing. WTF is going on? I'm bout to just put my stock one back one, my car is freaking me out

Heres some pics of all the connections.

what lines should I check? the only two i d/ced is the one going to the intake tube and then the one going to the throttle body. (pics 4 and 5) Both seem on pretty tight.

You may have knocked one off that you weren't working on and not realized it. Thats what happened to me. The one going to the intake wouldn't affect anything as thats a vent, but the one going to the TB could. Like I said though, its possible you knocked one off accidentally without realizing it.

if it's not your hoses. (my civic use to do this, it would even surge up n down) adjust the bolt on your throttle chamber. theres an idler adjuster there.

Hold the hose straight up in the air, then let go of it. Where ever it falls is probably gonna be pretty close to where it hooks up. This works with wires too.

i found this, so im guessing its either the one to the cruise control or the intake air resonator check valve. I cant find where my cruise control goes to though

as funny as this sounds he's right. Most of these hoses and wires have been bent in the same position for so long they will automatically go there in it's "relaxed" state.

Like I said check on the back of your cruise control. It is located behind the regulator. To make it easier check if there is a vacuum line running there already. If there is check the connectors to the ERG canniester on the right of the engine bay.

My advice is to simply put a bolt on the hose until tomorrow when you actually see.

Also check your evap control canister. Its that large black bottle looking thing under your TSP sensor.

The pictures point to the cruise control. If you notice in your pics there are 2 lines coming from the steel connectors. One of the hoses from it is your unidentified and the other connects to your evap control canister. A hose as long as the one you have only connects to the cruise control. It is a bitch to get to it because its in the back on the regulator.

I suggest you put your original valve cover back on and see if it still idle poorly.

He experiences gains in his rpm meaning the hose is sucking. If the hose were to be placed in his intake it would still have a constant flow of air running thru it hence the problem would persist. It possible that the hose would be connected to the IAR control selenoid valve then the intake. The hose looks too long for it to go to the IAR.

Whats the status of the situation.

well ok. Now my car is possesed. I checked behind the cruise control unit and couldnt find anything that the hose would connect to. I checked where the other hose goes to (red one) and that one is connected to this black cylinder thing right under/behind the cruise control. So where does the other one (blue) go to? Can someone trace it and find out for me? Its the bottom one of the two metal hoses.

Anyways so I tried to take my car out for a spin and I found out that its DRIVING ITSELF. Its like my car is in constant cruise control. I can take my foot off the gas and the car still goes at a constant speed though. I tried turning on/off the cruise control and none of it works. So something is super whack with the cruise control.

Sucky thing is that I have to drive home (80miles) tonight. At least my car runs, but whenever im stopped or in neutral, the thing is revving at 3k.

dude you owe me big time for going out at night and getting my hands dirty like that

ok here i the deal
there are 2 vacuum connectors going in the cruise control and on going out.
The first one is located on top which im pretty sure you have already connected but if not here is the pic.

Right below that but a bitch to get to is the second connector. There is a vacuum line going in and another going out os the canister. Like I said its very hard to get to.

So you an idea where the position is just follow the finger.

GOD im such an idiot. When I put on my new valve cover I clipped on the throttle body cable too tight. So thats what was giving my car that extra gas

I uncliped the cable and let it sit loose and everything was FINE. GOD damn, what a scare, I was about to drive home like that too. So relieved it wasnt anything serious.
